Thumbs up Eurovision Song Contest 2008

The Eurovision Song Contest 2008 is the 53rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be hosted by Serbia. The semi-finals will be held on 20 and 22 May respectively and the final on 24 May 2008 in the capital, Belgrade.

This is going to be very awesome again, I guess.

Participants include:

Dustin the Turkey from Ireland

Pirates of the Sea from Latvia

Rebeka Dremelj from Slovenia

and many many others

Jam it back in, in the dark.

That's true, the voting round is pretty much pointless, but I don't think that this ruins the contest itself completely. It's a crazy event every single year and I honestly don't really care who's gonna win it as long as it is entertaining.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh nooooo... Ireland didn't make it to the final
Instead, glorious countries like Azerbaidshan and Armenia were successful

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

lol wow, that's a pretty cool site

I put a tenner on Latvia to win this year.
They still have to qualify for the final.

Wasn't it them who did that song "We are the winners of Eurovision" a couple of years ago?
No, it was either Lithuania or Estonia. But definitely not Latvia.

Yeah, it was pretty kick-ass.

England are a rather generous 300/1 to win this year, might be worth a couple of quid.
300/1 is a fantastic odd, if you keep in mind that UK collected like 20 points in the past five years altogether. Not to forget that your last year's entry was one of the most homosexual performances I've ever seen on television.

Also, France's entry, most notable for being the first ever French entry not sung entirely in French is produced by Daft Punk and is actually a decent tune. There's always at least one decent track out of the lot.
France, like England and Germany, will land somewhere in the last third of the ranking. I am not even sure whether it's due to the voting fagfest presented to you by the East European countries or because the songs are just terrible. The French one is okay, yeah, but the German one will get like 50 points again and that's it.

I was speaking idiomatically.

And they held back Dr. Who a week for this?

Nigger please, I haven't seen any of the prior ESCs but since the people in Europeland go apeshit over it I might as well have a look.
You mean they gonna broadcast this awesome event in the States as well? That's wonderful, I thought I had to look for an internet broadcasting site for you faggots again.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I don't think it will be broadcast in North America. (?)
Are you sure about that? I mean, they even broadcast Super Bowl in Slovenia.

edit: ahaha, I almost actually edited your post, Aardark

Hey guys

So the semi-finals the other day didn't really cause any surprising moments, but it seems that this year's Eurovision might actually be a good one, considering there are some good songs, and yet a few bad ones that still do not fail to deliver

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I enjoyed last nights contest, it was definitely not as good as the one in 2003 in Riga, when Alf Poier and t.A.T.u. and UK's 'nul points' achievement totally made the show, but there were some good songs. I am a bit sad that none of my favorites got even close to the top (I am extremely disappointed concerning what happened to the French song... wtf??), but in the end, I am not really surprised that Russian song won since Russian government apparently sent parcels to televoting participants (they have experience with that, they usually send parcels to Syberia during the presidential votes).

See you next year in MosCow! (*hardkore*)

Yeah, the Norwegian song was actually not that bad, and it's nice to see that a West European country is still able to get (quite a number of) points from Eastern Europe.

Oh, also, the clips between the songs this year sucked. They should have scenery and landscape clips next year again. However, I fear there will be GAZPROM commercial breaks between the songs next year :/

Also, what the fuck, why did the Belgium song fail at the semi finals, it is so awesome, it's about crocodiles! =D It would have clearly won the contest!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
