Wow yeah that's pretty homosexual

But I'm sure we are going to witness even more crazy stuff

Hamu-Sumo May 18, 2008 07:08 AM

Oh, a thread about the Eulolvision Song Contest here. Can't help but this event is just stupid. Every year happens exactly the same shit. Scandinavian countries vote for each other. East European countries vote for each other. Balkan countries vote for each other. Italy did it right and takes no longer part in it.

And btw.: GFF Best VGM Song Contest rules much much more. :3

Musharraf May 18, 2008 07:44 AM

That's true, the voting round is pretty much pointless, but I don't think that this ruins the contest itself completely. It's a crazy event every single year and I honestly don't really care who's gonna win it as long as it is entertaining.

Hamu-Sumo May 18, 2008 03:54 PM

Sure, if you aren't interested in the final result, you'll find much entertainment there. Some artists were really odd in the past (e.g. the one who looked like people from Stone Age). :D

The idea behind the contest is really cool but the people aren't objective and/or serious enough in my opinion.

Musharraf May 21, 2008 02:26 AM

Oh nooooo... Ireland didn't make it to the final :(
Instead, glorious countries like Azerbaidshan and Armenia were successful

Best Eurovision site of the year right here. I put a tenner on Latvia to win this year. Wasn't it them who did that song "We are the winners of Eurovision" a couple of years ago? Fucking gold.

England are a rather generous 300/1 to win this year, might be worth a couple of quid. I love watching the Eurovision though, it's comedy gold.

Also, France's entry, most notable for being the first ever French entry not sung entirely in French is produced by Daft Punk and is actually a decent tune. There's always at least one decent track out of the lot.

They still have to qualify for the final.

No, it was either Lithuania or Estonia. But definitely not Latvia.

Yeah, it was pretty kick-ass.

300/1 is a fantastic odd, if you keep in mind that UK collected like 20 points in the past five years altogether. Not to forget that your last year's entry was one of the most homosexual performances I've ever seen on television.

France, like England and Germany, will land somewhere in the last third of the ranking. I am not even sure whether it's due to the voting fagfest presented to you by the East European countries or because the songs are just terrible. The French one is okay, yeah, but the German one will get like 50 points again and that's it.

And they held back Dr. Who a week for this?

Nigger please, I haven't seen any of the prior ESCs but since the people in Europeland go apeshit over it I might as well have a look.

You mean they gonna broadcast this awesome event in the States as well? That's wonderful, I thought I had to look for an internet broadcasting site for you faggots again.

Aardark May 22, 2008 09:53 AM

I don't think it will be broadcast in North America. (?)

Like any sane NA broadcaster would be interested. (Hopefully) Mush to the rescue.

Are you sure about that? I mean, they even broadcast Super Bowl in Slovenia.

edit: ahaha, I almost actually edited your post, Aardark http://forumimages.somethingawful.co...ies/emot-v.gif

They will broadcast that shit anywhere, hell, the last SB I was stuck at work and to suffice with a Chinese stream.

Musharraf May 23, 2008 08:51 AM

Hey guys

So the semi-finals the other day didn't really cause any surprising moments, but it seems that this year's Eurovision might actually be a good one, considering there are some good songs, and yet a few bad ones that still do not fail to deliver :)

Thalin May 24, 2008 01:18 PM

Where have the details of the chat room thingybob gone?

We will just use this thread, I guess. Only 30 seconds left =D

edit: okay I joined #gfchat, if anyone else is interested (?)

edit2: you can also join a pretty cool eurovision chat #eurovision @ irc.synirc.net

Aardark May 24, 2008 02:04 PM

The chat room is gfchat @ irc.psigenix.net.

Last year's winner is still terrible!

Additional Spam:
I like how they had to put twenty tall blondes in the background to counterbalance her awfulness.

Musharraf May 25, 2008 05:52 AM

I enjoyed last nights contest, it was definitely not as good as the one in 2003 in Riga, when Alf Poier and t.A.T.u. and UK's 'nul points' achievement totally made the show, but there were some good songs. I am a bit sad that none of my favorites got even close to the top (I am extremely disappointed concerning what happened to the French song... wtf??), but in the end, I am not really surprised that Russian song won since Russian government apparently sent parcels to televoting participants (they have experience with that, they usually send parcels to Syberia during the presidential votes).

See you next year in MosCow! (*hardkore*)

gaming May 25, 2008 06:49 AM

My favorites songs were from Albania, Norway, Croatia and Russia :)

Musharraf May 25, 2008 07:22 AM

Yeah, the Norwegian song was actually not that bad, and it's nice to see that a West European country is still able to get (quite a number of) points from Eastern Europe.

Oh, also, the clips between the songs this year sucked. They should have scenery and landscape clips next year again. However, I fear there will be GAZPROM commercial breaks between the songs next year :/

Also, what the fuck, why did the Belgium song fail at the semi finals, it is so awesome, it's about crocodiles! =D It would have clearly won the contest!

NovaX May 25, 2008 08:38 AM

Which ever one had the grandpa scratching on the gramophone was the best.

RYU May 25, 2008 11:21 AM

I saw it yesterday.Latvia ,Albania & sweden are best songs for me but Russian won in contest.

Kilroy May 25, 2008 12:25 PM

I couldn't be arsed to see the last couple of songs, but I didn't find the show as crap as last year. BUT HOW COULD LATVIA LOSE? They were dressed as pirates! <3
