Thanks to a death in the family, I may not be able to vote at all this time around, squatting as I am right now on a low-bitrate conference connection at the Shadow League Annual Retreat.

Then again, if this becomes Song of the Month again, I might have time after all

Back at last. It's been a strange couple of weeks, but voting will help me get back on track.

de Blob Original Soundtrack - DB 606 (Euphoric) I have in the past professed an allergy to funk, an unfortunate side effect of being really, really white (Irish on both sides, even). But I'm not immune to the brilliant funk on display by Euphoric, and neither should you be. This is one case where the name really says it all.

de Blob 2 Soundtrack - The Chase This is more "1960's spy" than funk, and it does a good job of dotting the i's and crossing the t's as required by that style.

Dragon Scroll: Yomigaerishi Maryuu (Game Rip) - Requi Seems like there should have been an "em" at the end there, but whatevs. Good if sparse chippytune.

Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo ~Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu~ (Game Rip) - One who Carves a New History Fire Emblem seems like a series that would lend itself to some superior militaristic music, but the stuff I've heard from it so far has been pretty bland. This tune's okay, about equivalent to upper lower-lower middle tier Sakimoto on Marsden's Militarism Scale.

MDK Original Game Soundtrack - Vengeful Alien Murder death kill, murder death kill! This was always kind of a weird game (sniping in a bird-headed techno-suit, yeah), but lots of people seemed to single out the OST for praise. By the lame standards of the Crappy MIDI Era, yeah. But it's merely okay to these jaded modern ears.

Ni no Kuni: Shikkoku no Madoushi Original Soundtrack - Desert Kingdom's Town Desert themes are either glorious Lawrence-of-Arabia good or boring as shit. There's no middle ground. Sadly, despite some flourishes, this falls into the latter category.

Super Meat Boy! Soundtrack - Forest Funk (Ch 1 Light World) We are being inundated with dB lately (which is fine cuz I liked him before he was cool). This is a nice change of pace, mixing some funkier elements into the standard synthy palette. Not dB's best, but no slouch either.

The Spirit Engine 2: Original Soundtrack - Finale and A Lost Dream With a title like that, I was expecting something really epic. The song does its best, with a nice piano opening and some decent choral bits in the middle, but that title writes a check it can't cash.

The Point Spread
Euphoric - 3 pts.
One Who Carves a New Turkey - 1 pt.
Forest Funk - 1 pt.
Finale and a Lost Bagpipe - 1 pt.
