Wow, that's quite a list. They must have quite a music budget; everybody but Basicscape is there and accounted for.

Seriously, though--how many tracks will each composer write? One? Two? It doesn't seem like there's enough room in the game for that much music--how many tracks to these Smash Brothers dealies usually contain?

While I am impressed, and I'll soon have some new tracks by my favorite composers to hunt down, I sort of wish they'd stuck with one or two composers (Mitsuda and Shimomura of course ), since the more composers there are, the less cohesive the resultine music tends to be.

There was only one other composer needed to make this announcement "News of the Year", but unfortunately Follin HAD to retire from the VGM industry.
It seems like there's a real barrier to cross-Pacific musical communication--you never see Japanese composers working on US or UK games, and vice versa with very few exceptions (e.g. HGW on MGS). So they probably wouldn't have hired him even if he was still in the biz.
No Sakimoto or Hamauzu.
