I'll buy God of Wauuuuugh on Wednesday when I get more fun bucks in my account. PINKIE SWEAR! But not FFXII, it's still very expensive! I'm sorry Pete! ;_;
Liarrrrr, you're much too easily distracted by rank stench from exploitation games such as "Halmar's Super Horse Horse" and "Apples!" and its sequel "Brown Apples!" >=0

"Oooh, God of Whooooaaah! I will just g- *sniff* *sniff* What is? HOUWAAAAGGH What is that awful stench?! Zit Popper 4! Flying Tree! Elf Bowling 2! Only $15! I have to buy them all! I don't even have this console! Super Console 64! I will buy it as well! My pants!"

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It's one of Enk's favorites, actually.

Incidentally, I loved Dragon Quarter, but don't like Grandia Extreme at all. I recommended it because you wanted an RPG with fun battles, not necessarily because you liked Extreme =P

I love Grandia 1 for the lovable characters and a sweeping storyline filled with adventure, not the battle system. That was only a (fun) means to an end for me.

Same way Dragon Quarter's story was minimal, but the atmosphere was extremely strong, so again the great battle system was a bonus for me, rather than the point.

Hey the American Viewtiful Joe cover is cool. It's bloody PINK here. THE WHOLE CASE IS PINK. SO MUCH PINK.

That's because it was released in pink and yellow editions!

I have the red/pink one! Buddies 4ever <3

But the ratings are different. What kind of mature content did Capcom add that a 10 year old can't handle?
That's because time goes slower in Australia, so 8 australian years would be 12 european years (or 16 german years).

Eternal Darkness is fantastic (if you have a perchant for "not that scary, but genuinely unnerving" horror games), excellent find.

I'm a rather big Resident Evil fan, and whenever i ask for more horror recomendations the first one on the list is either Silent Hill or Eternal Darkness. I've been looking for ED for a while now.

Also bought Pokemon Pearl the other day cause my friend's a retard, and wouldn't stop telling me to buy it.
I myself can't generally stand horror games because whereas in a horror movie, where you just need to sit and watch, in games you yourself have to go through the unpleasant vent or wade through the sewer, while being attacked, etc. It's an experience alright, but not a very pleasant one for me. I really liked Silent Hill and am still trying to get through 2, but they're very difficult games for me, if you know what I mean.

Resident Evil games strike a fine balance between creepy, atmospheric and exciting, with enough gunplay to keep me feeling just empowered enough.

Eternal Darkness got this right too. It's not "scary" in the same way Silent Hill or Fatal Frame can really scare the shit out of you, but the atmosphere is good, the story is brilliantly told and structured. Many of the insanity effects are a tad gimmicky, but some of them do catch you off guard and the spell system works well, especially when combined with the puzzles. Above all I best remember the building dread you felt about the overarching storyline and some of the fates of the characters were truly cruel.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I highly recomend playing the Gamecube Remake of Resident Evil. It terrified me the first time i played it, mostly because it was my first survival horror game. After a while, it's still creepy, but you get used to it, and the game just becomes an extremely well put together story with some pretty creepy parts. It seems to me to be the best place to get yourself adjusted to the concept of a survival horror game.

You've officially got me excited for Eternal Darkness now. I really want to start it tonight, but i need to finish my current games before i move on. I have a nasty habbit of not finishing games.
Oh, I hear that. I've lately been playing short games just to stand a better chance of finishing them. My attention span with games is terrible, it was a miracle I finished FFXII.

And yeah, I have all the GC Resident Evils, it's actually where I got my introduction to the series. I adore REmake, it's such a great title and gorgeous to look at. I really liked Zero too, despite leech mutants.

Lucky bastard. I can't find II or III for the life of me. Have all the others though.

I hear you on the short games lately too. I'm really hoping Final Fantasy I is as short as people say it is.
I vaguely remember having to track 2 and 3 down from (finnish) internet auctions here, ages ago. I did score an unopened 2 relatively cheap, so I was lucky with that. They're strangely more easily available around here now, but since they're PAL, you wouldn't find that very useful.

Incidentally, after I finished Blackthorne on SNES, I started Final Fantasy Mystic Quest ='D It's just the right kind of "old" for me right now.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, I ordered the game online and haven't had a chance to play it yet or else I would make a huge post detailing how awesome the game is. ;_;
Obviously I didn't mean you Milesy (although I more let yours pass since you linked to the sale).

I was speaking idiomatically.

Hmm, I wonder if I can find the GC version somewhere then...
That, and the GC's analogue stick is better for aiming and the graphics are slightly better~

Anyway, it can't be that rare/expensive, I see it's around 3-5 bucks on ebay. But buying another version right after buying one could feel a bit silly.

Full Spectrum Warrior - $6
SkyGunner - $5
Ace Combat 04 - $10
KoF XI - $15
XIII - $9

Combined they cost less than a Wii game...but I'll still never get around to playing any of them.
Luckily Skygunner is fairly short, even with all three characters. Start with that~

Full Spectrum Warrior is fantastic, but definitely requires time and concentration, even if the campaign itself isn't that long.

Today:

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
Did you already own BG1 and Tales of the Swordcoast or was there some other reason you didn't get the collection with all four?

I bought Planescape Torment. Always hearing how awesome that game is, so I'll finally be able to give it a shot.
Where did you find a copy? Also is it the original 4CD release or the white label 2CD one?

You should grab some patches and mods to make it more pleasant on modern computers.
Start from step 2~

It was at this local used book store called Bookman's and it is the original 4 CD version. What's the difference, other than the number discs, between the two versions?
Not that much, apart from the whole "less disc changing" with less CDs. The 2CD release is already version 1.1, while the original release needs the official patch as well as the Fixpack, at least I think.

Fantastic find though, the original release looks much nicer than the white label one.

I never had DR before but always wanted to play it and figured I'd pick it up before it goes out of print.
Ace pick. Controls for shooting can be a bit off (they're RE4, really) and escorting NPCs can be a chore (when is it not), but other than that, it's absolute gold. PERFECT setting, superb visuals, animation, black humor and a slew of disturbing bosses and psychopats to fend off. Oh and dozens of weapons, I guess.
