I'll do the explanation, then. Mine is just a rough one, and it might not be that accurate, but it'll prolly give you an idea.

DotA = Defense Of The Ancients.

It's a custom warcraft 3 FT map, based on the Aeon Of Strife map. (which means it's a hero based type of game)

You start by selecting a hero, and you pretty much end up using that hero all the time. LVL up, get items (very a lot of items), kill creeps, kill heroes, you know the drill.

The goal is to destroy the enemy's 'castle'.

My frens bought Wc3 just to play dota, nothing else.
Some of them got it, just to try dota.
