JUSTICE IS SERVED

With any luck Garr will see what he needs to do here for the checkmate

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

That being said, Zerg's fascination with the game's underlying numbers is probably a net benefit to the party specifically because he actually pays attention to things. I don't think anyone was actually tracking enemy HP to any degree before, and now there's a lot less "I attack that guy, unless he's dead from the previous attack, in which case I—"

It's not as if I'm actually going to let him optimize anyone else's PCs anyway, so he can create all the experimental alternate-universe Gheths he wants.

Healer's Lore has been used actually, Skex just doesn't go all ALERT! I AM USING HEALER'S LORE about it; he just mentions the bonus he's applying. You can see it in action in post #441 for example. Admittedly I'm sure it's slipped my mind a couple times, but.

What the fuck, you weirdos. Just register already if we're so interesting.

Yeah, I keep a close eye on my site traffic and I still get more requests for long-gone mp3s from SAUS 2007 than I do for the PDFs. Still in principle if it encourages that 1.4 percent of my traffic to actually register then it's worth doing.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Alas Skills is almost certain to kill all of the current crop of peasants anyway, for reasons ranging from "looked at me funny" to "refused to polish my boots".

^ahahaha, what the fuck then? 90 people show up, poke around the Basement for 10 minutes, and then vanish completely

So, since Zerg's attempt to crack the Builder evidently doesn't work (???), I'll just share my DDI account with the remaining four of you once the January patch is released later today. I'll PM you with the login/pass, please be kind enough not to do anything sinister with it.

Pang, is it possible for me to hold off on leveling up until we hit town?
No real reason why not so long as you keep out of trouble (which I expect you'll all be taking pains to do with your tank down to 2 surges anyway)

I'm not sure what Skex is up to, but Zerg appears to be gambling on the notion that the totally-random system I use to generate shop inventories will give him precisely what he wants if he just asks nicely so that he won't have to spend a feat on constructing the munchkiny loot he wants by hand.

So Pang, what are the chances that Valthrun will give us the ritual that makes fake gold?
About 0.8197%?

Well, less, probably, depending on what's added to the Compendium today.

Either way, isn't it hellishly expensive making your own magic weapons?
It's precisely as expensive as buying them, actually.

Without the option of haggling.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

As for resale value, tell you what. We'll go ahead and shoehorn in a barter mechanic. Just make a Bluff check for each item on which you want to haggle on the price (buying or selling) and you'll get a discount/bonus relative to the amount by which you beat the shopkeep's Insight (assuming you actually do so).
Sadly I think there's been all of one shop trip since I instituted this.

Pickpocketing has always been an option, just nobody could ever be arsed for some reason.

It's not as though he's going to pickpocket anything out of a shop, anyway. Everything's behind the counter since even +1 weapons cost more than a commoner makes in a year.

1 Die Roll
 Description
Die
Result
WHAT DOES HAVE IN ITS POCKETS
1d200
134
I can't wait to use my new pickpocketing results tables

LET'S TRY IT NOW

.... a pencil.

Anyway in regards to the damage question I figure I'll just give the monsters custom damage dice. d5s, d7s, d10s, d13s, d15s, d26s

Not having to rely on physical dice makes so many interesting experiments possible. We'll see if this ends up being a little more balanced.

Scratch that, I'm just going to try Skill's original idea to just increment each die up to the next tier (ergo, no more d4s ever)

Actually I could expand this table quite a bit, there are tables full of fish and livestock and books and oh my goodness!

oh shit there are tables for how corrupt the judge is when you get arrested!

A normal person would be able to tell, yes

But you must keep in mind who we're dealing with

For example Gordok routinely stores 70+ pounds of gear inside of a magical pocket inside his bear guts

pulling a trout out of some guy's ass wouldn't even phase him

Pang, it doesn't seem like the January 19 update included the new ranger powers in Dragon 383. Will you still allow me to take them?
Suppose so. Just bear in mind a lot of these powers and feats change somewhat between the time an article appears and the "final" version that appears in the Builder, so if something ends up being nerfed you'll just have to live with it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I can't give you any concrete examples, really, because the broken versions disappeared entirely once the fixed versions were released. Sometimes things just disappear entirely; two Warlord feats from Dragon #381 vanished entirely between the article appearing and the complete issue being compiled. So if Guardian Arrow disappears entirely, obviously you can retrain that. Otherwise any nerfs will be introduced basically whenever I happen to notice them.

2/3 seems to be working pretty well so far, they have enough time to get in some hurt without entering that grindy stage where you're obviously going to kill them but it will take another 2 rounds. It's an ongoing process and we'll see if it still works when I'm not bloodying you guys with every single hit but for now I'll leave it alone.

Final decision. Retrain Level 1 Daily from Split the Tree to Guardian Arrow.
I'm delaying the feat selection..
Oh honestly it's silly enough trying to stall your level up, but I'm hardly going to let you break it into convenient stages. You're all leveling up at the same time and you're all going to level up completely when you do it.

I was speaking idiomatically.

The Realms are kind of a broad place, but speaking purely in terms of Freeport:

An untrained laborer can expect to see no more than 100 GP over the course of a year, barely enough to feed and house himself after the tax collectors are done with him.

Members of the Watch officially make about thrice that, although most of them are none too shy about supplementing this by looking the other way from time to time.

Freeport's six judges are appointed directly by the Sea Lord, and consequently want for nothing. This isn't to say that they aren't thoroughly corrupt, but only that their motivations aren't in the form of coin. Open attempts to bribe them are as likely to get you hanged as anything.

Alright, so. If I don't hear something in regards to Garrmondo and Gordok's level up by Tuesday I'm just going to start taking suggestions from the peanut gallery. Maybe Garrmondo would make an excellent multiclass psion! Maybe Gordok should specialize in boomerangs! The possibilities are endless!

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/too...der/DDI_CB.exe

Then when it asks for credentials you just plug in the email/password I PMed to you guys, after which it should update your Builder to the newest (January) version. You'll know it worked if you have Artificer available as an option for a Hybrid class, since that was just added.

You did get the PM right? Everybody but Zerg should have received one since he bought his own access for a month. If the CD-Swap is any indication the PM system is buggy as hell lately though.
