What does getting a critical actually do
It maximizes the possible damage from the attack, plus if you have a magic weapon there's usually an added critical bonus to that.

In this case for example your damage roll was a 3, so you did 8 damage to the yellow group but rolled critical on the green group so you get the full 11 plus an added 1d4 from your magic staff. So as much as 15 vs. 8 potentially.

Quote:
and is it only on a natural 20?
With some few weapons it's a 20 or a 19, but naturals only yeah.

Although it seems silly, the swarm rules do not expressly forbid it.

The swarm can also be knocked prone. Somehow.

Well, the dragon didn't have an aura which hurt you and then slowed you down so you couldn't escape the aura

Drinking a healing potion is a minor action right?
Yup.

Of course two swarms get to beat on you before you get to take any actions so hopefully Deni heals you up on his turn because Sleep might be the only thing holding off a TPK at this point

Depends on the monster. In the spider swarm's case, it's only a radius of one square around each swarm group. With your ridiculously-high-level monsters the aura radius goes as high as 20 squares.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Gentlemen, let's not throw around blame

knk, you set a room on fire for no obvious reason

Brady, you pulled down the rope which was the only means of escape

You are both Brides of Frankenstein

Sooooo Brigid is taking 5 damage a turn from poison

And if she takes 5 more damage she will die

Just thought I'd throw that out there

(Inspiring Word is once-per-round and Brady unfortunately already called dibs)

Hey, it might be possible for Gabe to do something. He's got that Divine Mettle, maybe?

Yes, but in the right order! And not all at once!

If I have to wait for 5 new people to get characters together the game will be held up for weeks

The DMG specifically tells me not to beat up on unconscious people, though!

Unconscious characters can't take any actions, so you're pretty much stuck there until somebody else saves you. I don't know why they're saving everyone else first since Bob is the only one that does decent damage to the things but there it is.

If you roll 20 on a death save you wake up on your own, but for obvious reasons I wouldn't count on that.

Yeah, the poison kicks in at the beginning of the turn so you'll likely be quite dead before you get to use anything (even if you weren't unconscious).

Doesn't look as though the brooch can be applied to the wearer, either. Chainmail might be a good idea, though, supposing you ever wake up.

Yeah, any of the PC-statted races in the back of the MM are allowable, I just don't promote them since their options and abilities (particularly feat selection) are usually fairly limited compared to races which have been given the full treatment. But if you want to take an informed risk, go nuts.

Also, no Bladelings, because those things are silly.

Is it intended that you stat and make all characters?
No, I just volunteer to do it if the player is too lazy to bother.

Which most of them are.

Welp, that's that then.

Might want to edit your move, knk, what with having a small invalid-target situation.

Yes, but Brigid's turn comes before Soggys, see, and she is therefore dead which, expectedly, makes it quite impossible to Inspire her.

I was waiting to see if Deni decided to Divine-Mettle her and maybe save her that way, but alas no.

Yeah if you wanna go ahead and edit, fine. If she ends up living, I'll just use knk's original instruction to heal her afterward.

Yeah, the chainmail's a free action so you can trigger that just as soon as knk wakes you up.

Edit: wait, no. Still dead. Needed a 7 or better

Yeah, it costs nearly 700 GP, and I don't think the Horde has that much to spare offhand.

Also it requires the body which I have pointedly removed for reasons of let-somebody-else-play-it's-nothing-personal.
