What, you found some gold? Tell the others, we'll all eat gold tonight!

So hey, the precious 128-bit generation is reaching its end. Sorta, I mean, GameCube and Xbox have pretty much been dead for quite some time now. They're officially alive, still pumping out a whopping handful of games every now and then, but we all know they're dead. Though PlayStation 2 is a beast and will more than likely continue on for another few years, the developers aren't going to toss it many exclusive big budget titles anymore. The store shelves will eventually mutate into a slew of ultra budget games, just like what the PSone became during its final struggle to survive!

So what have you missed out on? There's been an awful lot of games this generation! A lot of games flew right under the radar, getting ignored in favour of more important titles at the time. And this is the best time to pick some of them up as stores clear out stock! Don't worry, my rambling is going somewhere (it's not really), basically it's like an underrated games thread. I think we had something like this in the Sony section before, it was pretty cool. Recommend some games that haven't been all that popular, but are well worth the awesome time to pay a few bucks for. Enlighten us! Excitement!

It doesn't have to be a multiplatform game, it can be exclusive to one of the consoles. Doesn't matter! Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Dreamcast, even Game Boy Advance (it's not 128-bit but it's dying too!). Please don't come running in and list games that everyone and their dog knows about, no "SMASH BROS. MELEE, HALO 2, GRAND THEFT AUTO!" or I'll shake my fist. So hard. SO HARD. It might shatter, and I'll cry. So hard.

And please write a little bit about the game, tell us what it's about, what console(s) it's on and stuff! Maybe chuck in a screenshot! If you just list the game title and hit submit it's gonna bloody well be deleted. Here I go with my GUSHING RIVER OF PRAISE for two games! And yeah I'm just being an ass with the box art.~

Hulk: Ultimate Destruction

It's on Xbox, GC and PS2. :] Forget the first Hulk game (the one that followed the movies storyline and played like friggin' Metal Gear Solid), this one is a real simulation of HULK SMASH. Go batshit insane in a pretty large city! Oh there's a storyline and stuff, missions and all that, but the main reason to play this is to just break shit. You earn 'smash points' by.. smashing stuff, these can be used to buy new moves. Some of them are hilariously awesome, like being able to flaten a bus and use it as a skateboard, or catch rockets and throw them back at the enemy.

Cars can be picked up and hurled around, people can be punched in the gob, buildings knocked to the ground (some of them), it lives up to the name. Hulk can jump REALLY HIGH, too. It's pretty fun just leaping from roof to roof, you can also run right up the side of a building, it's crazy. Sometimes you'll see inflatable balloon mascot things, you can pick them up and jump off buildings and float around town. Take in the sights while robots shoot at you. Mmmm. Personally I have fun picking up random people and putting them on top of a building, then watching them run straight off the edge and try to catch them before they hit the ground. HULK SAVES THE DAY!

The game also has bonus missions all over the place, ranging from playing golf with a lamp post as your club in the park to jumping off buildings and trying to land on the target below. It's a great game to play in short bursts!

Second Sight

Everyone's a winner for Second Sight! Even the PC! Developed by Free Radical (the GoldenEye and TimeSplitters duuuudes), the game completely bombed, sales wise. Possibly because it went up against Midway's Psi-Ops which launched at roughly the same time with a much bigger marketing push. Both games focus on psychic powers (of doom). Second Sight was one of the few games that actually drew me in with the story even though it's not that great, you start the game knowing as much as the main character, shit all. No memory, what an original story! You wake up in a secret government medical facility looking like crap, and suddenly KABLAMO telekinesis. You're able to move stuff around with your mind, wow!

Throughout the game you'll endure interactive flashback scenes, travel all over the place and gain more psychic abilities. From being able to 'take over' other people to projecting an image of yourself so you can go explore the level for a short amout of time without the worry of being shot to bits. The ragdoll physics are pretty fun while picking up enemies with your mind and slamming them against walls over and over again. You can use guns, but pffft, guns. Some levels have slight platforming elements and puzzles to solve (with your mind!)

It can get pretty freaky and dark at times ('sup mental asylum), but there's still humour to be found! Like, walking up to a computer, not knowing the password, he'll type stuff like "I DON'T KNOW" in, or "THE PASSWORD". I dunno, I really enjoyed the game. ;_; Only paying $20 at the time helped, too. Really nice music as well!

Hey Q, I bet you thought I'd put SOS The Final Escape in here! Maybe later. =)

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I didn't include it because it died before the Xbox and GC even launched (actually I just forgot about it), but yeah Dreamcast games are fine too! =)

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, I've never actually seen a copy of the first one around here. Not that I would have wanted to pay $100 for that butchered PAL version anyway. But surprisingly I've seen the PAL Disgaea 2 in a number of shops in the past week (even comes with a soundtrack CD!) Also major <3's to Sub Rebellion, Skills.

Billy Hatcher

GaaameCube. It was one of the few true exclusive third party titles for the system but it still got shoved out of the way. Poor Billy Hatcher. It's by far the best thing Sonic Team's done in 3D, that might not sound like much but the game is really quite cool. You play as a goofy kid in a chicken outfit who's an expert in rolling eggs around. That's the greatest hobby a boy can have! Little Pokemon rip-off type things can hatch from them to help you out, you can roll over enemies, you can solve puzzles with them. Eggs can do everything. The levels are... I dunno, they're very bright and happy looking, but not enough to blind you. It's nice. With a lot of Donkey Kong Country style barrel blasting bits and stuff to find. There's the typical themes, a pirate level, snow, beach, all that. Sure there's the usual Sonic Team bugs (bad clipping, spastic camera), but they're nowhere near as bad as they are in the Sonic Adventure games. Oh and the main theme music is both terrible and awesome.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
