I personally think the first Shadow Hearts had a better romance story than Covenant. Especially when you get all the extra little side stories and the bad ending just KILLED me:

I also liked the little romance bits in Breath of Fire IV, but I think it's because they were horribly depressing and kinda shocking ^^;; Jam it back in, in the dark.
