Whoa this is a good idea. Here's a related question: is there anyway to do this without a TV-card? Is there any kind of cable that converts from Composite Video Out to say Firewire (or less desirably, USB) so that I can display it on my computer monitor?

Edit: I know these will do the trick but I'd like not to spend the $400+.

No, composite signal is analogue.... A simple cable can't convert signals, you need some more logic for that.
I see. That explains a lot, actually. For some reason your use of the term 'logic' in this context really helps me understand what is taking place. Thanks.
