Ripping Images/pictures from ps2

Does anyone know how to rip the images from any ps2 game?

oops, sorry bout that.

If you know the file format you could search for known headers in the disc image.

Also it depends what you understand by "ripping". Do you mean digital extraction of the content or is "analogue" ripping also allowed? I'm talking about using the PS2 console to display the content you want to rip and then create a screenshot (probably connecting the PS2 video output to TV-card). Or trying pcsx2 to emulate the game and then create a screen there.

Whoa this is a good idea. Here's a related question: is there anyway to do this without a TV-card? Is there any kind of cable that converts from Composite Video Out to say Firewire (or less desirably, USB) so that I can display it on my computer monitor?

Edit: I know these will do the trick but I'd like not to spend the $400+.

No, composite signal is analogue. You need some circuit to convert the signal into a usable digital form. That's what a TV-card does or your small Fireware video-box. A simple cable can't convert signals, you need some more logic for that.

Rip or take screenshots?

PCSX2 emulation would be my choice for taking screen shots.

I've heard lots of praise conserning DVD Decrypter. I haven't tried ripping anything with it, but I've used it a lot for burning DVD's, and it rocks.

You can rip PS2-games to .iso-files, or just rip all the content in separate files.

@Syndrome: You didn't understand the problem.

I see. That explains a lot, actually. For some reason your use of the term 'logic' in this context really helps me understand what is taking place. Thanks.

I hope this wasn't a sarcastic comment. I don't know if translating the word 'Logik' from german into 'logic' makes much sense in this context. At least in german this makes sense.

Cellius Jan 1, 2008 11:00 AM

No it wasn't sarcastic! I meant that!

Sry, sometimes I misinterpret what I read between the lines :(
