The Devil's Beating His Wife
Today on campus it started raining. Not so peculiar. However, it was raining while the sun was shining. My friends mother told me when I was a kid that when this happens, the devil is beating his wife. I've heard it in a few other places and I have always wondered the story behind this, I couldn't really justify the title logically, so I'd like to know the mythology behind it.
Are there any other metaphors you don't get or other links to mythology that we use but don't commonly know the stories? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
