Rockman ZX

Game Rip: http://www.atomic-fire.com/index.php...sic_src_zx_zx1
Game Info: http://www.capcom.co.jp/rockman_zx/

Anyway, I've been listening to this for the past week, and it's growing on me a lot. At first I didn't think it would stand up to the Rockman Zero soundtracks, but now I think it's on the level (while I don't know if it can reach the status of RMZ2~4, it's at least much better than RMZ1).

For one thing, the style is different from the Zero games, and IMO, the songs seem to fit better with where they are played. Many songs feel generally more cheery. Instruments that don't normally show up in Rockman games, like the piano and (synth) violin, make appearances here. A few songs have strong trance/dance elements. And some of the tracks even remind me of other games, such as Sonic CD.

Since this game, like Rockman Zero, is developed by Inti Creates, I have little doubt that sound team III is once again at the helm. While this soundtrack has a different feel, some of the songs' compositions give away that at least some of the previous composers have returned to work on this game. My personal guess is that Ippo Yamada did most of this soundtrack, as this was the case with RMZ1 & RMZ3. In any case, we should know for sure, pending the announcement of REMASTERED TRACKS ROCKMAN ZX *crosses fingers*.

Favorite Tracks:
Area A - Forest - Theme of Rockman ZX
Area C - City
Area E - Power Plant
Area F - Lake
Area H - Amusement Park
Area I - Imprisonment Facility
Area J - Marine City
Last Area - Serpent Company
Theme of Guardian
Versus Prometheus & Pandora
Ending Credits

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I don't think that has anything to do with the quality of the rip. The sound quality is likely just lower on ZX because more processing power is being used for the graphics than it is for Battle Network (and that leaves less over for audio).

The Rockman ZX arrange album has been announced! It's called "ZX TUNES". Read more about it here:

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

October 27th release, I think.

Someone might want to translate the ZX TUNES banner here:

Thanks! Though the game rip had 35 tracks. I wonder which 3 are getting the shaft. Hopefully nothing major.

I already have this preordered, along with the new Area 88 album. I'm really fond of ZX's soundtrack now, so I'm really looking forward to this.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I didn't check recently, so thanks for the heads up!

You can find a prototype version of the ZX TUNES' Green Grass Gradation on Atomic Fire. Specifically right here.

Thanks for the info. The track is indeed great. The female vocal is a really neat touch, IMO.

I had mine pre-ordered and paid via PayPal. It should be shipping to me soon. I wonder if someone closer to Japan can hook us up sooner.

I'm especially interested in hearing what the guest arrangers come up with.

I also have to say that Idea is my favorite, but Inti always comes through with enjoyable music. The only time they really disappointed me was with their first album (well, that and the deluge of drama tracks on Telos).

The overall instrumentation quality and fidelity of ZX TUNES seems a bit lower than previous albums, but it's largely dependent on the song. On the bright side, it has dozens of great melodies, and very little of what I consider to be filler tracks.

Even the harshest critic of this album can agree that if you compare this, the first Rockman ZX album (there has to be more to come), to the first Rockman Zero album, there is nothing bad to be said.

And now, for your entertainment, I present an info sheet (in Excel format) giving a track-by-track breakdown of Track #, ZX TUNES Title, Game Rip Title, and Artist(s). Original info courtesy of Atomic Fire, of course.

I agree that Snake Eyes could have been longer, but it got both synth and electric guitar treatment. I think it turned out great.

Anyway, I don't know why Kahori listed Nov. 4th as the shipping date, because I just got my copy in the mail today! =D
