That big blast afterwards is what I think makes the gun so lethal. If you're up against someone who can effectively weild that beast, you'll die pretty fast, even if you try strafing away from the blast and the opponent armed with that gun. There's a whole FAQ on the BFG9000 that explains how that gun works and whatnot.

Basically, if you're crouching or in the prone position and you fire that gun, there's barely any recoil on that gun unlike with the AK47. You still have some recoil to work around even if you are crouching or prone. You can't auto-aim at the head with the Auto-aim lock with any of the guns in MGO.
To be honest, the whole XM16E1 being too accurate arguement is actually a tad bit new to me. I've only heard a few people bitch about that gun online and on some messageboards.
