The other way around... those of us who are lucky enough to have v1.50 can boot games that require v2.82 firmware. I don't see any reason to ever upgrade my PSP, if this continues.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I've found this to be a great screen protector for the PSP. It's not one of those adhesive sheets, instead it is a hard plastic cover that fits over the screen, and is retained in place by a rubber shell that covers the rest of the PSP while leaving the essential parts, such as the controls, the power socket, and the UMD drive uncovered. It doesn't seem to really have a downside.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'm asking because I've had a few cases at work where people have upgraded a US PSP with a European (official) firmware update and their PSP working, but no longer accepting UMDs.
Would that be UMD movies, or game UMDs? It shouldn't matter in the case of games, but movies are region-locked.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I contacted Dark_Alex and asked if he could include multiple (selectable) versions of the POPS emulator in his future OE releases. He's looking into the matter currently, but flash memory space might be too limited for this. Someone suggested using the PRX plugin system, I'll sure to let you guys know the outcome of my research.
Sound interesting... if I wasn't so afraid of the possibility of bricking, I might try that. I'm more inclined to hope that POPS improves in future official releases, though. Then D_A will most likely incorporate them into future "OE" releases.

oh well that sounds like total Bull =D
My sister has a psp that has 2.60, is there a way to downgrade it to 1.50 safely or maybe the 3.03a I've just heard about.
A link to the right site would be nice o-0
Sure. You can downgrade that PSP to 1.50 and then install 3.03 OE-A if you wish. First you need to upgrade to 2.71 because that is the firmware revision for which the most stable downgrader has been released. Then you need to accept that there is a chance you can brick the PSP. It probably won't happen, but you don't get a guarantee.

Then you need to visit http://www.dark-alex.org/

For tutorials and such, visit http://www.maxconsole.com

I was speaking idiomatically.

A "noob" group called Hello World will create a downgrader for 3.03 sometime this week.
So let's assume they aren't deliberately attempting to create a bricker app. They have to be lots better at hacking the PSP than anyone else has been so far... 'cause all the other scene developers have not thus far succeeded.

I'm not saying this isn't true, but I am saying that I wouldn't want to be among the first several hundred people to try it. Fortunately for me, it's not even an issue.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Uh, it's not a "noob group called Hello World." A group called Noobz released a Hello World app for firmwares 2.81-3.03.

Noobz is a group made up of hackers such as Fanjita.
Oh yeah, I get that... I follow the scene. I'm just skeptical that anyone else can do what Dark_Alex cannot.

I'm just the kind of guy who don't really like to mod their thing just in case something goes wrong... and it's just that I'm not sure that I'll use those homebrew enough to justify modifying it. Just wanted to know if I could restore my psp to normal in case I don't use homebrew as often as I think I would.
The thing is that 'normal' has no quantifiable advantage over a custom firmware. There's nothing you can't do, because you modded.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Some games will lag when they are being played from a memory stick. A good data-transfer rate may alleviate that problem. You should be aware that there are a lot of fake 'high-speed' sticks out there. Mine is a fake, but given the price, I knew it would be.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Can anyone tell me if I must go back to 1.50 if i want to upgrade from an SE/OE to the latest M33 update?
You don't need to. You can if you want to, or you can install new CFW from an existing CFW.

How is the PSP slim when it comes to PSP ISOs?
It is possible to run ISOs on the PSP slim via custom firmware, but it's not as easy to set up as it was on the old model.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't think it was released in America.
You're right. It shouldn't make a difference though. What with the PSP being fully free of regional lockout, you can play a Euro version on any kind of PSP.
