Also, have you tried using the Applocale utility with the game?
This will probably fix the problem. It sure did for me, but obviously I'm not using the same software as you unless by a huge coincidence.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Ok thanks guys. I'll try it out.

Nothin happened after I installed apploc.msi T_T
You need to use it as a launcher for your program. Click your Start Menu and select Applocale. It will ask you to browse for the application you want to launch, and to choose a language. The last option is Japanese, and looks like 日本語 in the menu. You should have your computer set up for Unicode (UTF-8) and select that from your browser menu to see those kanji.

It will ask if you want to create a shortcut to always launch the game with Applocale. The smart answer is yes, so choose that and try the game out again. If it still doesn't work, I'm out of ideas.
