SATA is hotpluggable. I don't have SATA in my current systems, but it's very possible that the HDs ARE handled as removable devices.

As a general rule, if it's not detected in BIOS, the Jumper's wrong or it's dead.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The phrase is "It's dead" or "It's dead, Jim." Tell them about it not being recognized and it clicking and I doubt they'll ask anything else.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
