It's not about any of the games, but it seems to be in the timeframe of 3 and 1.
After what seemed like a fairly promising opening (no Dante-humor was my main complaint), the rest of the episode just got progressively worse. If the second or third episode doesn't show signs of improvement, I'll probably just ignore this series. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
They spent way more time making sure there was about 372 gallons of blood spraying out during each fight than giving Dante any depth or showing his melee skills (he only uses Force Edge in the opening fight and the very last, and only very briefly). He spends the majority of his time being a total hardass, so you are reminded more of the Devil May Cry 2 Dante than anything else.
For me, I wanted this to be about how Dante goes from a complete jokester who occasionally messes something up when he tries to act cool (broken jukebox, sneezing and making his office collapse) in 3 to the calmer, more skilled one who still has a good sense of humor in the original. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
