Devil May Cry - Series to Debut in 2007
 

Tokyo Game Show has kicked off in Japan and while alot of the focus during Capcom's presensation was on DMC4 for the PS3 it was also announced that a Devil May Cry TV series by Madhouse will debut in 2007 on WOWOW.

Kick-ass news. I IM'd a bunch of people to verify that this was, indeed, an actual anime and not some manga deal. Fucking best news in a while.

I wonder when's this one taking place, I'd imagine between DMC3 and DMC1 from the concept images (outfits from both games could be seen).

Be sweet if they could bring in the english VA cast of DMC3. Heh, especially considering that the norm for the DMC series has been english VA, to have japanese VA for the anime series would just seem a little awkward now.

Just found out about it right now. A DMC anime is well within the realm of possibility, considering many recent anime shows have replicated the same kind of stylish action (Trinity Blood).

As long as the animation remains pretty, this won't fail.

This is indeed exciting news. Considering how well Madhouse handled Gungrave, which is essentially the same type of crazy, shoot anything that moves game, I can't wait to see how they do with this.

I also forgot to mention the series will consist of 12 episodes.

I hated Gungrave and didn't know Madhouse animated that too.

ahah Devil May Cry is so great. After seeing it from a friend, i decided to go find out more about it, which lead me to read the book 'The Inferno' by Dante Algheri (i think thats how its spelt)... which is a great book, and the game really co-incides with some of the parts of the book. lol, i like the games with hidden meanings in em, and Devil May Cry really hits the spot !

I can't wait for it. If those designs are concepts for dante then that means that they're going to base it mostly around the dmc3 timeline. That means we may see lady and virgil, well thats what I'm hoping ^^

from the pictures it looks like its following DMC 3 timeline? there was a novel and manga which i still haven't picked up

Well it'll be on WOWOW which is a satellite channel so they'll be able to get away with some heavy duty gore and violence. The downside though is that being a satellite channel means the show won't reach out to a very large audience which probably explains why there are only 12 episodes.

That's excellent news, I just hope they handle it well.

I think Dante's character design is awesome. Can't wait to see more of it instead of that dinky trailer.

I love DMC. I was hooked on DMC for a while when I first got it. I know that they have the DMC3 Manga, but now they're gonna air an Anime series? That's pretty cool.

It's nothing much but it at least gives you a sample of the art style for the series.

Madhouse is hit-and-miss when it comes to animation quality. Black Lagoon looked gorgeous while Strawberry Panic was barely presentable at times.

A 12-ep satellite broadcast would most likely have a higher guaranteed standard, though.

Pretty sweet, can't wait to see tv spot or something for it. Here's hoping that they deliver on the action and animation! Has an air date been announced yet? Heh, as this is the first anime series I actually wanna follow in over a year now (past year or so has kinda been meh for me).

Can anybody post information on that website regarding the series, it's cast of characters, and their respective voice actors? If so, then Lady and Trish might not be in there.

I never cared for Trish. She always looked like a cracked-out whore and annoyed me. Lady, on the other hand is always welcome.

All we need now is some animated Vergil/Nelo Angelo~

Lady and Trish are there, you can even check the katakana.

I wonder where this chronogically fits in the series, I imagine it'd probably be between 1 and 4 if Trish is present (as from the game's perspective, we first meet her in DMC). Then again, if it's set between 3 and 1 we'll have a more likely chance to see some Vergil/Nelo Angelo character development.
