Yeah I got your PM, Kairyu.

I've been furiously training my pokemon, but there's not a chance in hell I'll be done in time for tomorrow. I thought it would've been a few weeks away! It's also been infuriating since my planned Feraligatr can't get Ice Punch and Dragon Dance on it until I get to trading (which isn't available to me right now).

EDIT: Wait a minute. What the hell am I thinking, I couldn't participate even if I wanted to! My wireless has been dead for weeks.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

If you want to get into the nitty gritty when comparing Kingdra to other dragon-types, I recommend using Psypoke's Comparer tool.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I've never even heard of veekun. Just Serebii, Smogon (which is down), and Psypoke for the popular places. I do like some aspects of their comparer, though. The actual height comparisons are pretty cool.

Anyway, the purpose of recommending that tool is so that you can see who's faster, hits harder, etcetera, so that you know what you're up against if your Kingdra comes out against another Dragon. You need to know if you can take him or switch out before you get hit by Dragon Claw or worse, Draco Meteor.

Have you thought about making themes for competitions every month? Like, an Underused tournament or a Fire tournament? That'd be pretty fun, if enough people had teams like those prepared.

Anyway, I should be ready in time for next month's tournament.

Wow. Bookmarked, and will probably be the one I use from now on. Giving base stats on the Pokedex search page was a big plus, but experience needed to level up depending on growth rate, all sprites, color coding and height comparison with the trainer make it an easy choice.

Thanks for that, Crash.

If I had a stupid wireless connection working, I'd take you up on that offer. I need help evolving my Rhydon and Porygon.

Anticipation isn't exactly fantastic, either.

Also, Dry Skin just heals its HP. It doesn't affect Water-type moves used against it. Fire-type is also stronger, so it isn't that good unless you're running a Rain Dance team.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Anticipation does have its uses, just not very often.

Rain Dance teams seem to be much more effective in this generation than the last. Lots of weird traits and moves that take advantage of it, and Manaphy gets to abuse the hell out of it. There's even been talk of moving Manaphy into the Uber category, which would be the first non-Mew, base total 600 in that tier.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I haven't seen it personally in the game, but I haven't read anything that indicates Water attacks are changed in any way by Dry Skin. Just that Fire attacks do more damage to Dry Skin pokemon during Sunny Day (in addition to the boost it already gets from Sunny Day itself).

Finally got a Totodile with Dragon Dance and Ice Punch the other day. EV training an adamant one now.

Also, I just thought about the tournament a bit and how themes would be cool. At Neoseeker they're doing a Metronome Tournament, and I thought how great would that be? It'd be funny and it's easy as hell to have Pokemon prepared to fight in it (meaning most anyone with a copy of the game could get in on it). What do you guys think about something like that?

Actually, more than you'd think. Here's the whole thing from the Neoseeker forums:

Quote:
Rules:

Sudden Death

The fights will be randomly set up in a Sudden Death type of manner. If the number of participants turn out to be odd, a randomly selected person will be automatically transported to the second round.

No hacks

With this, I mean, no Togepi's with 999 attack. Keep it in the legal borders.

One Pokémon Only:

Yes, that's right. Only one.

Metronome only:

Only one move. Metronome. Having any others and you're automatically disqualified.

Normal Held Item Clause:

Meaning, no Quick Claw, King's Rock. You know, that sort of stuff.
Exceptions: No prolonged recovery items. No Leftover, Shoal Salt, Shell Bell, Black Sludge, etc.

------------------------

All eligible Pokémon are:

Clefairy
Clefable
Mankey
Primeape
Poliwhirl
Poliwrath
Abra
Kadabra
Alakazam
Machop
Machoke
Machamp
Geodude
Graveler
Golem
Drowzee
Hypno
Hitmonlee
Hitmonchan
Chansey
Mr. Mime
Jynx
Snorlax
Mew
Cleffa
Togepi
Togetic
Politoed
Aipom
Snubbul
Granbull
Teddiursa
Ursaring
Smoochum
Miltank
Blissey
Celebi
Ludicolo
Makuhita
Hariyama
Meditite
Medicham
Plusle
Minun
Volbeat
Illumise
Spinda
Kecleon
Happiny
Munchlax
Ambipom
Togekiss
Many of these can only learn it through the tutors in FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald, but still. Very easily an option by going to GameFAQs' trading board if you don't have the GBA games.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Hey, beats me why they're banned. I guess they want it to be truly random, but. Who knows.

I wouldn't care if Quick Claw was unbanned, but I say leave King's Rock and the rest where they are.

Just use a Butterfree. Compound Eyes, plus Thief included in its potential move pool.

I can confirm that 2 is not true. An unevolved pokemon will catch up in stats when it finally does evolve.

Of course, if it remains unevolved at level 100, its stats will be lower.

I've encountered two shinies so far, being the Steelix on Iron Island and Giratina I've mentioned before. Before that though, I'd never actually found a random one. Just the red Gyarados of Gold and Silver.

Honestly, once you find one, try to trade it for one you like. Most shinies are equal in value.

I'm still nowhere near ready for regular tournaments or even the higher levels of Battle Revolution. The goddamn offspring of my Ice Punch/Dragon Dance Totodile have absolutely shit IVs, and it turns out so does my Larvitar and Skarmory. Kind of frustrating.

What four did you raise? Without knowing, I'd suggest raising a Miltank and/or Blissey for either kind of wall and a cleric.

Oh, nice, Empoleon. Looks like all you need for a rounded set is a physical wall and something to throw down Spikes or Stealth Rock or something. Skarmory covers both of those pretty darn well.

Well, shit. Maybe you oughtta just do pokedex-roulette and see what you come up with.

You have all of the basics jobs down then. Physical wall, special wall, both kinds of sweepers, and a spiker. Do you have a set leader for your team? Maybe you should work on one if you don't (but since you competed in the tournament, I doubt that that's the case). Aside from that, maybe another special sweeper? Salamence and Weavile are plenty for the physical part, but Empoleon's a bit scary to use that way. Gengar is a staple. So, a Porygon-Z (usual choice) would be good, or maybe a Houndoom if you wanted to have a little zest or some Fire.

Beyond that, you could go into really specialized types. Bronzong designed for Trick Room? You could do a whole team for that. Subpunching with a Breloom or something. Always painful, if you can pull it off.

One tactic I've been itching to try is Pressure Stalling. Get a pokemon with Pressure and good defenses to eat away at the opponent's PP. Sort of limits your choice to Dusknoir, though. Another one is something I saw at another place, called Perish Trapping. I guess it's is a Mismagius that revolves around using Mean Look with Perish Song.

Beyond that, the only other thing to do would be to suggest our favorites. You're probably aware of who's the best statistically, but a lot of those pokemon are boring.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

You guys say they're meh, but this counts as an event pokemon. And with only 90 before cloning begins, they'll be pretty valuable.

Thanks for pointing out this event, mini-face. I'll be trying for one.

This sucks. My Ponyta has been unharassed for over a day now, but no trade for a special Psyduck. Up until that point yesterday, I was usually traded a normal Psyduck once every three or four hours.

I think Mew was only available in Emerald.

As for chains, my highest was with Hoppips at 29. Followed by Miltank with 22, since I wanted to get a good amount before I let it slip away into the crowd of Tauroses. Anyway, that makes me think that 39 isn't actually all that high for shiny hunting. I could see it taking chains into the hundreds.

Honestly, the best way to find the shiny you want is to trade. Just make sure it at least looks somewhat convincing before you trade for it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
