Quick question on character options. Its not listed among the races in the intro post, but are Dopplegangers from the 4e MM a valid choice? Was thinking about trying out a Dopple-Bard who turns into the folks he's singing about.

ie: "Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, that started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship." and he'd turn into the Skipper.

Figure by the time a slot's open, even with possible TPK, the PHB 2 will be out.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Cool, I'll stat something up then and figure out a way to post the character sheet. Don't really mind the limitations of the race too much, as their one power seems interesting enough, and feats aren't all that hot in 4e anyhow. Plus, whenever the Eberron book for 4e comes out they'll probably get some treatment.

Edit: Actually, not sure if I'm supposed to do that. Is it intended that you stat and make all characters?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

True, and good point. Even with a full TPK they are still three full groups from me. With the way the Horde's been playing, could be Epic by the time that rolls around.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Considering its down to only one KO now (who's stable), I won't be surprised if the Horde somehow scrapes out of this without losing a single person.

It requires a higher level ritual magic, namely the Raise Dead ritual. Level 9 if I remember? You might be able to get someone to cast it for you, although in this edition its kind of expensive until you get to the level where you're supposed to use it, because all the costs are exponential.

Edit: Level 8 actually. Description on page 311 of the Player's Handbook. Market price is 680 gp.

I was speaking idiomatically.

That does bring up a good point. What is the policy on raising dead within this game? As at some point, it would become trivial for parties to go back and raise all of their members, which implies that unless there is a TPK, there will be no rotation. Which is fine, others should just plan on that if its the case.

Also, from the Player's Handbook:

Quote:
The subject returns with a death penalty: –1 to all attack rolls, skill checks, saving throws, and ability checks. This death penalty fades after the subject reaches three milestones.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Not trying to imply that he would allow us to be raised, or that you were hogging your turn. On the first I just thought it would be useful to have it set out, as its a natural question. On the second, I've found reading the turns of people amusing, no matter who's playing, which is the real interest. So no-one can really hog a turn, as the point's just to have fun and the sharks enjoy being in the water as much as diving into the game.

Edit: Think my worst was being the plane shifting mage and being the one to die when the party was in the upper levels of the Abyss. Felt bad just seeing them all go, "aww hell, now what?" We're always light on clerics, because even though they were all kinds of awesome in 3.5, nobody still wanted to play one.

But what about the treasure, and fame, and glory? Actually, not so much of any of those. Mostly huge rock traps and crawling death. Maybe they should let the squishy and beard play detective.

"Plug the gap with your body woman." Ouch, nobody even crossed the 50' of room with Bob? Thank goodness for lucky initiative rolls.

For the briefest of moments I thought those might be helmed horrors. But that would just be mean.

You've also placed yourself so that at a minimum you're in a two on one unless someone else moves up. Plus likely ranged attacks from the brain (since its unlikely its a melee machine). Plus more if the armors happen to have reach (hopefully not).

Since Garr mentioned it earlier, I am curious on the altar jumping possibilities. Coated in blood and trecherous? Low enough for an easy jump? Crouching if they get on it?

I may be mistaken, but weren't there already some backgrounds in some other books? Or perhaps those were only ones specific to an area, like Faerun. I just remembered seeing them when I was looking at making a Bard with the Wizards toolset.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Always liked the 2nd Ed. era as it didn't have that feeling around it. Sure, it had the same people who went crazy collector over Bronze Era comic stuff, but at least they used their D&D books rather than buying them for resale.

Course, I'm sure TSR would have liked it if they could have built up that type of collectibles obsession. Might have been them putting out mini's rather than Wizards.

Also, the hydra picture is awesome, and I may have to give a poor try at coloring that.

With how the dice roller is treating the Horde, they may all be feeding the fishes.

You have been killed by a Reef. Do you want your possessions identified?

You were chaotically aligned.
You were extremely lucky.
You could teleport.
You caused conflict.

I would think the upper left is the sheer drop (P1 to L7 cliff edge), unless that's a flying ship.

Perhaps tying off to something stable in the area might be safer than trusting in the caring nature of the horde. "Ah, a hydra's got him, and the delicious cake!" "I let go"
