Alright kids, gather around. It's storytime. Time to tell you of the glorious adventures of two men. Two men who went into Firefight Matchmaking and were immediately abandoned by their two teammates. These men were not discouraged however, and decided to take on the world.



Okay so a single Jackal isn't exactly the world but you get my point.



Lol. But enough about Daravon dying. It's time to get down to business. I've done two man FF MM before and I have never actually finished the game out. It's designed for four people ideally and with two you just get fucked. Would we be up to the challenge? First thing's first: teamwork.



I call it the "Daravon you get punched by that Hunter while I charge my laser" strategy. Don't get all concerned he lived. I wouldn't let my bro die that easily. After that, we moved onto to shoring up at the sandbags and taking the two man fireteam approach. We even got the Grunts to show us their new grenade levitation ability.



How cool is that? Being with Daravon for a whole 30 minutes seemed like a bit much though. I needed my alone time, so I consulted with a friend. No Daravons allowed.

Of course, as is the folly with two man FFMM we eventually got pushed up and spawn camped, but it wasn't anything a little teamwork couldn't dispatch.



Get off my lawn. Eventually in order to survive I suggested we hijack a vehicle, and after several hilariously fail attempts Daravon finally managed to snatch a Wraith at the end of the first round. While he cleaned up the front...



I mopped up the rear:



The Wraith actually lasted a whole Round, we were impressed we kept it for so long. The third Round brought us back to our old tricks again. Good thing Daravon is such a fucking hammer whore.



Things proceeded smoothly, until we hit the final wave with a little over 2 minutes to go. Faced with all those fucking Gold elites with swords and turrets, Daravon and I soon found ourselves dying repeatedly. Fortunately the time had come for the King of Clutch, Roflfox, to step up.



Looks like he stepped on something there. Sword in hand, it was time to get to work.



BITCH. The clock was winding, our time was quickly running out but my amazing sword work proved too much for the Covenant to handle.



MORTAL KOMBAT. Too bad we didn't get to fight because Daravon stole the kill with his fucking Wraith. I seriously could not believe we finished that shit with two people and I highly doubt I'll ever see it done again. Oh and the bonus round? Grunts.



Daravon got about 10,000 fucking points with the Wraith. It was ridiculous. I was on foot with just a DMR but I managed to not die, so huzzah! Basically, we rule.

I like how I went into Multi Team with Mo0 and STILL got Elite Slayer twice in a row. It's insane. Not that I don't love Elite Slayer but god damn.

Still got 380 kills to go for the weekly.

I like how the Grunts flip the fuck out if you jetpack on top of the box that's on the roof of the building you spawn in on Outpost. They literally start taking the long route to try and get to the AA gun or climbing on the rocks to try and shoot you. It's so fucking easy to spot the bastards with the Fuel Rod Cannons from up there too.

Also I'm really taking a liking to the Chiefs FF voice. Shot a bunch of dudes in the head and he was all "Heretic this" and I lol'd.

Probably. Anybody not on a mongoose is fair game in Rocket Race. You're invulnerable on it, but not off it. Shin and I actually got a killing spree/wheelman spree during a match once.

Heh, I didn't get a percentile for my Gold arena season. Shake you got 10% in Iron, does that mean you're better than like 90% of the dudes in the Sucks at Halo division?

There's a video up on Waypoint called "Way of the Ninja" under intel that outlines taking a group int Nightfall and finishing the whole mission (no skipping segments) using only assassinations/melee and some insane teamwork. We definitely need to try this.

This is something I've ragged on multiple people before (Hi Skills/Achivement folks) but I have never seen the point in what equates to cutting your own wrists. Firefight Verus: Agree completely. I would have actually liked to try this in a group at one point, but we're always focused on doing MM stuff.

5v5: Agree, but indifferent. We've discussed this before and if it happens it'd be great. If it doesn't it won't be the end of the world. Some of the maps here are actually small enough where 4v4 doesn't seem too bad.

Weekend Playlists: Weren't those introduced later in the cycle after they got a bunch of different gametypes and such ironed out? I'd like to see that too but it seems kind of early, in the same vein that they haven't worked Grifball back in yet.

Living Dead: Sucks. The maps aren't anywhere near as well designed for the game type as H3, I don't see why anybody bothers. They need to address that before spawning issues or whatever else.

Elite Slayer/Multi-Team: Yup and yup. I could do with them just toning down the weighting for Elite Slayer though.

Zealot: Wasn't Arena Zealot rolled out into everything? I could be wrong but I remember playing TS/Oddball shit where going into space nearly got me killed.

Cage: Can we just take this one out of the game. It makes me sad every time I have to play it, even on the rare occasion that I win.

Not really going to go through the rest as it'd be nitpicking (though a daily cap lift and a larger firefight map would be awesome but we've discussed this stuff in game before) but what it sounds like to me is a lot of people are using the cR/Commendation system as their sole reason for playing (in addition to shaping the way they play around it), at which point the game just becomes a chore and there's no point. I dick around with them for sure, but that's usually as a warmup/while I'm dicking around online waiting to see if I'll hop into the Arena or whatever that day. I guess you could say H3 kind of had the same idea with the ranks and whatnot but I know for me personally, the Ranked grind to Brigadier was about competitive play (which I am a total masochist for) and improving myself and my gameplay as opposed to getting handled all the time by people better than myself and complaining (heard a lot of this).

It also feels like the voice of dissent is greater than the voice of praise, but maybe that's just me. I genuinely enjoy the experience thus far. It needs work, but I know a lot of people could probably better spend their time learning maps, various techniques and such to better themselves (which eventually leads to a better enjoyment of the game as everyone loves winning) instead of GOTTA FILL THOSE BARS everyday. Bars are neat and all, but there's gotta be more to it our you just won't have fun anymore.

Last season I placed Silver and had to work my way up to Gold. Playing patiently, sticking with teammates more has seemed to help. I have no idea why the Arena hates you so much.

I love Firefight challenges where it's to not die. Got Sniperfight on Glacier, one dude was chilling in the base. I go back and start pushing him out, he gets mad and runs into a corner which I nade him out of. Our teammates come in and start helping, then we all get swarmed by the enemies and he dies (I lived), and then quits. Trolled so fucking hard.
