Yeldarb remains at the top of the list with a lucky streak, but the rest of the challengers are nipping at his heels.
Tritoch attempted to use Fjordor on Yeldarb this morning, but it failed because Yeldarb is using Satellite Defenses today. Money: -RockgamerXIII and Yeldarb each collect 10 tribute total from Tritoch and Identity Crisis -Zergrinch only collects 8 tribute from Tritoch and Identity Crisis, because IC only had 3 gil left. Oh well, at least it told us right away not to bother with any items against Yeldarb. I'm not sure how much I approve of these contingencies that are just "Whatever's left unconquered by Yeldarb!" That's not a contingency plan so much as a cheap way of making sure someone is dead without bothering to coordinate much.

In the past I've allowed contingencies because if we were all sitting in chat or something real time, they wouldn't be necessary. Since we're constrained by people submitting numbers at different times, it seems only fair to allow contingencies when an important move is being made, especially since some players only log in once a day. As I warned earlier in this game, if players start to abuse them, I'd take away contingencies. I suppose next game I run, I'll have to eliminate them, since Zergrinch has seen fit to use them constantly this game. I see the value of doing what he's doing, and I don't think it's necessarily cheap, but if everyone did it, there's no way I could keep track of things in this game. Formula of Universal Law ftw. The real problem seems more that you can't take Zerg's nagging, since that's the only thing preventing you from making a clear ruling. Is it really that hard to just define the rules for contingencies rather than taking them away completely because one player continually abuses them? Something like:
- Only to be used if the player will be unable to check GFF for a day or a player is coordinating an important attack. - No Zergrinch, not every attack is important. - Targets must be defined and not "whatever he has left after ____ finishes his attacks." I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |

I will most likely define contingencies, and limit them to once or twice a game (the player can determine the importance, since they'll be limited). I'm not going to bother with how often the player checks GFF, and I don't have a problem with "whatever he has left after ____ finishes his attacks", as long as you don't do it every day. Actually, on second thought, it is more fun when allies accidentally attack each other whilst trying to eliminate other players.

While I admit I have been using contingencies with frequency this game, I assure you that it isn't per day, and I only reserve the contingencies for pivotal occasions like trying to knock out other players before they get a chance to post their attacks. Identity Crisis has proven remarkably resilient in the past game, despite 3 of my attempts to knock him out.
