Every tattoo I have is black or sepia toned. I have hints of colour... i.e. on the pictures of Lucifer and Michael I'm having put on my forearms, their eyes are coloured (brown and blue, respectively) but the rest is all shading and sepia tones. I don't play with colour. Almost all shadow for me. And I've got a bunch of piercings. I absolutely love them. I actually worked as a body mod artist in Europe.

I'm also working on full sleeves and have my left and right forearms partially done. I also have 2 tats on my shoulder blades as well as one on the back of my neck. I also have 1 tat on my left upper arm ( bicep area ) and 2 on my right. Sadly, i don't have any photos of any of my tats besides a ages old picture of my first tat i got up in Seattle back in 01'.

In two weeks i go into to get a partial back tat which is a homage to D.boon
which consists of the minutemen anchor symbol and a picture of d.boon on the guitar. I myself tend to stray away from using colors in my tat's and just stick to simple black ink.

anyways, here is the pic of my first tat.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I am TERRIFIED of needles, I might add - but with a tattoo, you can't even really SEE it. It's just the buzzing of the gun. It bleeds a little, but its really no big deal. I was really scared, but it turned out to be kind of enjoyable.

Of course, my huge arms are not exactly prone to pain, so there's that. Your miles may vary.

I went with a friend of mine who is notoriously afraid of pain. When she turned 18, she went right out to get the Aerosmith emblem tattooed on her lower back. She COULD NOT stop moving when the gun hit - the artist fucked up several times and practically kicked her out. I had to sit there and try to calm her. =/

But really, it's NOT that bad. Maybe try a tiny little something before commiting to some larger.

Actually, Pang is supposed to be getting Pooch. It is a deal between he and I. I just really jumped the gun when I was younger and he has hated my tattoo since. ^_^
Yeah thanks... I'm glad I'm not the only one who has Belonophobia and still got a Tattoo. The other question I have is: What Kind of Tattoo?. I already have decided on my upper arm (Since it can be covered with a sleeve) for the first one, and maybe upper shoulder/back area for another... but as to what to get... I'm stumped. This is both a major and minor decision, so I am doubly stuck as to what to possibly get.

If he ever gets the tattoo, you gotta take a pic of the two tattoos together. That would be awesome.

See I can't even watch people getting injected on TV or something... I have to turn away... but I guess since everyone has said its not that bad, I may be able to convince myself to do it at some point.

Come on....you can come up with something nationalistic that's much more creative, I'm sure. Did you ever see the dude that worked at Borders a while back, who had this Aztec theme going for his piercings and tattoos? That was stellar.

BTW, the reason that I haven't posted a picture of mine yet is that it is strangely attracting zits... I'm not sure why. I was thinking that maybe putting lotion on it 2x per day was contributing to that? I don't have much acne on my back, generally... And certainly not all in one spot.

Yeah, but I don't plan to get a mural done on myself and decorate it with peripheral accessories like piercings and chains. The eagle on the cactus isn't going to be THAT plain either; I just want that emblem to have A LOT more detail (feather details, snakeskin, etc.).

I have a pelvic tattoo, too. It's only text and it says "Carius mihi et dignius videretur tua dici meretrix quam illius imperatrix." ("It would be dearer and more honorable to me to be called your whore than to be the empress of the whole world", something that Peter Abelard's mistress wrote to him in the 12th century.) I got it in the throes of despairing about some things as a stupid "reclaiming my body" gesture, which is all very dumb and new-age. But even with those connotations discarded, I really like it; it skirts the line between classy and trashy. No pictures of it though. ;__;

It's pretty big, but getting it wasn't THAT bad. I've voluntarily subjected myself to things that hurt worse. The only REALLY unpleasant parts were right on my hip bones. It felt like the tattoo needle buzzing was reverberating through my whole body, and it made me cry ;__; and it was off-putting enough to make me reconsider my plan to get more text on my collarbones.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

My big brother has tattoos galore - each one usually representing something special and meaningful in his life thats happened (IE his first daughters nickname, the special forces branch that he served with in the military, his platoon nickname and symbol when he was in kuwait etc etc etc). Now that he's a firefighter he wants to get something that represents his firehouse. Hopefully I'll have moved to New Jersey if my masters plans go right and I'd like to get one too. He said he knew of a friend who could probably do us both a really good one at around the same time. It'd be my first (and probably only) tat, so I really want it to be something special.

If you'd asked me this a few years ago I'd have sworn up and down that I'd never even think of getting one. But now...I dunno. Guess my outlook has changed since I'm older and more grown up. Still seems like such an out of character thing for me to do, but ah well! Can't think of what I'd want it to be though, which is odd because I'm usually brimming over with ideas...

How ya doing, buddy?

I don't have any tattoos myself. I'm getting one when I graduate from high school...

However, in the mean time, I am a tattoo artist. My current project: my stepfather's next wrist band (working on a celtic and a gothic version presently)...

My last rough draft of a tattoo was a "Morte Prima Di Dosonore" (Death Before Dishounor) with a sword through a heart, an eagle, and the letters on a banner. After my stepfather chooses which band he wants finalized, I'll finish this...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm aware. Not sure why it has to be a dove, exactly... People have said that, though. One day I might get it filled in blue. It being a dove doesn't bother me, though. It's also a symbol of love, I think.

I've considered getting a tattoo on various occasions, though A) I have no idea what and B) no idea where. Plus I'm scared I might end up permanently having a symbol adorned to my skin that I would eventually grow tired of. I'd very much like to get a pop culture or video game related tattoo sometime though, provided I can come up with something that would remain timeless to me.

Well, I wouldn't particularly be offended if people took it as a Christian symbol. I was raised in a very conservative/highly religious environment. I am a bit ambivalent with regards to religion, the church, and God, but I hope to find the answers I seek.

The original idea actually came from a doodle of a bluebird with the words "flying after God" written over it. I'm looking for Him... Where did He go?

So see, it works.

Hey, that's good then. As long as there's something there for you to connect with. I wasn't saying anything against the church though in that sense. I'm a standard Christian... Even if it baffles most of the Catholics/Evangelicals in this country.

I knew a guy that didn't really give a damn about tattoo significance. The last thing I saw him get was some sort of creature (if you've played FFVII, it looked a lot like the little guy that hopped around his horsish thing in the area in the crater that also had the potions) vomiting leaves.

I've always been kind of enamored with the idea of a tattoo, more than the reality of it. I like symbolism, and the idea of a reminder, like something you can always use to ground yourself.

I've toyed with the notion of a basic yin-yang between my shoulderblades, but frankly I don't think I'm quite hipster enough to carry it off. It's pretty clear to anyone that hears me speak for more than 20 seconds that I'm a nerd.

About how much would something basic like that run me?

Depends on if it's colored or not, Skex. Of course, also the size and detail of it. But your basic yin-yang I'd imagine would cost you 100-150? Of course prices in Vegas were always inflated so it might be less in your area.

Wait, a pelvic tattoo is on the pelvis, am I right?

So what does a penis have to do with it? Certainly the tattoo is visible without showing a penis.

As for me, I have a tattoo, one of those trendy, new-age Japanese symbols. I did it, actually, because I like Japanese. Now that I've taken Japanese, I realize it's actually COMPLETELY INCORRECT which means that I've failed as a person.

Oh, well, live life and learn.

Jamma, Libra huh? I was thinking of getting a tattoo with my two signs (Chinese and Western) with, somehow, my two elementals. I was thinking of a badass rooster (Chinese Zodiac animal) in metal Samurai armor (Chinese element) with maybe the Libra sign stamped on the chest plate. Not sure how to incorporate wind into that effectively though.

Harder yet is finding someone to draw that shit up for me.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
