Y'know, your tattoos? I know you've got 'em.

In a minor flurry of rebellion, I went out and got a little one, recently. My parents were vaguely annoyed, but I actually didn't get the gut-wrenching reaction I had originally hoped for. Obviously I need a large snake-and-skull combination wrapping around my entire arm.

So, if you have a tattoo, post a picture of it. I will post a picture of mine ASAP, as soon as it looks a bit prettier (it's breaking out because I'm putting so much lotion on it).

Sorry Blue... I don't have any. I am actually kinda disgusted by tattoos. I mean, some of them look really good, while others I think, don't fit the person. I guess it all depends on perspective. I do know lots of people who have tattoos however, some good, some ok, and some not so good. I find the most famous types are dragons and Chinese/Japanese characters.

Unlike Vivi, I love tats. The only tattoo I have presently, unfortunately:

Percival from Sinfest. It has personal sentiment LOADED into it. It was also an 18th birthday present from my girlfriends. Located on the middle of my right upper-arm. (It's totally true that if you pick the scab after you get the tattoo, the ink comes out. You can see some spots where I tested the theory. Cry.)

I plan on getting more (believe me). I want a tattoo of three bumblebees on my shoulder, buzzing around - ALSO loaded with double sentiment. I just can't find a good artist to draw what I want. ;_;

I don't have, or have any desire for tattoos. My body might not have been made 1000% perfect, but I don't think injecting ink into my skin is going to make me a better person so...

I'm planning on getting a tattoo of an alto clef sometime at the end of this year, so whenever that happens I'll post a pic of it.
Nothing special, but it's the only thing I'll feel comfortable having on my body the rest of my life.

And wow, nice to know that picking at the scab really does that. I've been extremely careful with mine, because I don't really want to have to go back and get it fixed... If that's even possible.

When you get more, you must let us know! And hmm, that's a nice way to celebrate your 18th birthday. I think my parents woulda killed me back then.

Mine is also loaded with sentiment. Sort of. I got it on my ex's birthday because I know he HATES tattoos, and I'm trying very hard to get over him (he got over me ages ago, and we never speak). I'd been doodling a lot around that time (a few weeks ago?), and what came up most were little pictures of birds with the words "flying after God." So I got a bird.

An alto clef? So people can pay you out for playing the viola? (It's okay, I play viola too; I also pay out viola players)

You sound like me a few years ago. Not 1000% perfect, eh? Just... what, 988%?

I want to get this by this coming summer. I have no clue where I'm gonna put it yet but I guess half the fun of figuring out where to put it. :p

It's definitely possible. My roommate just got a tattoo a week ago and the artist told her that if there were any spots where the ink didn't take to come back in and he'd fix it. Other artists might charge you a bit, but you can always get it fixed once it's healed.

Do you have any other tattoos, Ence? I would think you would... (Are you the one who told me you had one on your pelvis, or was that Deni?)

Also, I think the answer of where to put it is obvious: YOUR BUTT.

I'm the one with the pelvis tattoos... and because I don't feel like dangling my schlong out for TraumatizedRat to drool all over, you only get the first piece of me sleeve design, a script piece on my right forearm.

Hmm, I've never thought to take any pictures of my tattoos. Good ol' standard prison ink. Next time I get access to a webcam/digital camera I'll take some.

I want to get a tattoo... but I'm scared of needles, as you might be aware, but I'll post it once I get it.

Of course I have to decide on WHAT to get as a Tattoo, and that has ALREADY wasted away many hours (And enough people have convinced me that it won't hurt that bad that I may overcome my fear momentarily at least if I were to get one at some point).

Sass: That is an awesome tattoo... maybe you should get a adjoining Pooch to balance it out or something? I dunno.

I would have thought that would go good on a shoulder blade or something.

Personally, I don't have any tattoos at the moment. I have been tossing around some designs but I'm too broke for that shit :(

Seriously, it doesn't hurt that much, provided you don't get it somewhere where theres a lot of bone exposed just below the skin - like the spine. My best friends got theirs done on their spines and the tears wouldn't stop.

Not to mention you have to sit very still when the artist is working on you. It's hard at first since the buzzing (more than the needle really) scares you.

I am TERRIFIED of needles, I might add - but with a tattoo, you can't even really SEE it. It's just the buzzing of the gun. It bleeds a little, but its really no big deal. I was really scared, but it turned out to be kind of enjoyable.

Of course, my huge arms are not exactly prone to pain, so there's that. Your miles may vary.

I went with a friend of mine who is notoriously afraid of pain. When she turned 18, she went right out to get the Aerosmith emblem tattooed on her lower back. She COULD NOT stop moving when the gun hit - the artist fucked up several times and practically kicked her out. I had to sit there and try to calm her. =/

But really, it's NOT that bad. Maybe try a tiny little something before commiting to some larger.

Actually, Pang is supposed to be getting Pooch. It is a deal between he and I. I just really jumped the gun when I was younger and he has hated my tattoo since. ^_^

Yeah, the one on my wrist hurt like hell. Over the veins and all. Fucking Mexican wouldn't stop laughing at my grimace.

Ya, where the tattoo hits is all important. My tat was done in about 15 minutes because the dude could do almost full outlines in one long line, because I have a high pain tolerance... but the shading on the "h" closest to my inner elbow hurt like all fucking hell. A lot of nerves exposed there.

I would NEVER get a tattoo on my inner elbow. The samurai I have just below is close e-fuckng-nough. When I was little I'd freak out when I'd have to get blood drawn there.

I'm getting full sleeves done, so that includes the inner elbow. Really fucking looking forward to it.

My original plan was for full sleeves. Really just my right arm though, I wanted to cover it completely (with some skillful avoidance of the above-mentioned area) and, when done, have my right arm almost look like an attachment to my body since the rest of me would be plain... In this country though people just freak out seeing the few tattoos I do have exposed when they see me on the street. These people are behind like hell and the only people that do seem to have them are gangbangers, vicious ones like MS13, nine times out of ten.

If I end up staying here I'll probably get a nice piece on my back. I also want one that'll start at my shoulder cap and stretch down to partially cover my chest. Need to find some decent art though.

And to think, not long ago, even when I joined this board, I was firmly against the damned things.

Well, a huge part of what I'm doing with the anthropology is concerned with tatooing/piercing/body mods... I'm getting partial sleeves... wrist to three inches above the elbow... and then shoulders/upper-back-chest. Then calf sleeves. Not to mention the piercings.

I'm definitely a huge wuss when it comes to pain, and I handled it quite well--didn't cry or anything. I mean, I flinched and stuff, but it REALLY wasn't that bad, and it took about 5 minutes.
