I usually shave twice, once with the grain, and once against the grain. This enables a really close shave, and also reduces the chances of razor burn and bumps as well.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Because my job requires it I shave every (work) day, with a razor once a week and every other day with an electric.
you should probably avoid touching your face in that area as much as possible. i have a tendency to ge some really bad acne, but they were usually in places that I would touch more often (forehead, nose, cheekbones). The areas around my stubble have almost never broken out. Also, I noticed that facial hair is a good acne preventative screen, since after all, you aren't touching your face if it is covered by hair.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
