There's this food scientist in Philidelphia that explained once that the bitter taste sort of excites people. As in, when someone rides on a roller coaster, it excites them b/c it's dangerous, but a safe kind of dangerous. The same way with bitter foods: His study shown that most people enjoy the bitter taste when it reaches the peak of bitterness (as in, it's not overly bitter, but comes close). That may explain one reason why some people like grapefruit.
I like it b/c of the unique taste. It's got a bit of tart to it that wakes up the tastebuds. It sort of makes oranges seem bland (even though I do like oranges). Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() "Oh, for My sake! Will you people stop nagging me? I'll blow the world up when I'm ready."--Jehova's Blog |
It is definitely an acquired taste.
