It means that it's assuming <random USB storage device> is an MP3 player and it wants to synchronize the data. Say you listened to a certain playlist at home and had that same playlist on your MP3 player. If you were to add a few songs to the playlist at home and not the MP3 player, WMP would try to synchronize them by adding those new songs to your MP3 player as well. If you put it on automatic, it's going to fill up <random USB storage device> with whatever you have in WMP's playlist everytime you insert something while the program is running.
