No, I do NOT want to synchronize this damn device

What the hell.
This has been happening for over a year but I've always ignored it. Every time I plug in a USB device (doesn't matter what) and I have WMP open, I get ambushed by the following prompt:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...ynchronize.gif

I don't even know what this means, and I never want it showing up again, but no matter what I click on it always returns when I put in a USB device. Any insight on why this recurs?
Thank you.

Tools -> Options -> Library

Play around.

It means that it's assuming <random USB storage device> is an MP3 player and it wants to synchronize the data. Say you listened to a certain playlist at home and had that same playlist on your MP3 player. If you were to add a few songs to the playlist at home and not the MP3 player, WMP would try to synchronize them by adding those new songs to your MP3 player as well. If you put it on automatic, it's going to fill up <random USB storage device> with whatever you have in WMP's playlist everytime you insert something while the program is running.
