Building a new PC
This PC will be for my parents. And for me to rip/burn DVDs/CDs, since my laptop cannot do it without kicking up the fans to Mach 2 level. So, I'm not looking for anything that will pimp out the latest games. I know it'd be possible if I bought a nice graphics card, but I don't want to spend money on that.
Here's the parts that I'm looking at. Any suggestions would be appreciated, but I'm trying to keep this under 350. Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+(65W) Windsor 2.0GHz Socket AM2 Processor for $131 OR AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Orleans 2.2GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor for $89 Motherboard ASUS M2NPV-VM Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard for $88 RAM CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 for $109 Video/Sound/Communications On Board Hard Drive Something from my old computer, 160 GB. Optical Drives Some Lite-ON DVD-RW I bought a year back AND LG DVD Burner for $31 Case Inwin C720T for $50 Monitor/Keyboard/Speakers/Mouse: Old Computer. Most amazing jew boots |
It's a good budget build. I would choose the X2 processor because multitasking will be better (i.e. burning and web surfing at the same time, etc). Other than that, looks like you are on your way!
There's nowhere I can't reach. ~ Ready To Strike ~ :Currently Playing: League Of Legends(PC), Skyrim(PC), Golden Sun: Lost Age(GBA), Twilight Princess(Wii), Portal2(PC), Dragon Warrior II(NES), Metroid Prime 2: Echoes(GC)

I normally like the NEC DVD burner a tiny bit better, even if it's 5-6 dollars more.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
