Same old song and dance: computer gets too hot, my CPU fan is too loud

As with every computer I've ever owned, I have two problems with my current rig: it's too loud, and summarily it's too hot. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm in a non-air conditioned room on the second floor of a two story apartment, but it's only 70 degrees in here and I'd hate to know what will happen when things get into the 90s around here and I get into a game of ProEvo2008. My previous computer was liquid cooled and the radiator fan wasn't as loud as this CPU fan from Intel.

So, aside from not playing any games at all, can someone make some recommendations? For what it's worth, I have two case fans that likely aren't doing shit either, but I've never heard of a case fan that does a great job. I'm guessing the overall issue is just poor ventilation. Here's my case, for interested parties. It has one of those side vents for the CPU fan, but it's not straight on with the fan, but I'm guessing that's not a big issue.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I have the same fucking problem with my Dell. That stupid temperature sensor sends the thing into deafening mode around 75 degrees. I usually pull off the side case, vacuum the fan and whatever it's connected to and leave the case open.

Basically, I'm saying I'd love to know of a decent real solution also.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Replacing the CPU cooler with a better one helps. Making sure there's a clear path for air to flow through your case helps more. You have to have one fan pulling air in, and another pushing it out for good airflow. I rarely get mine registering temps over 45 degrees.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I actually realized I don't have a front case fan. So the only fan I have pulling air in is the processor fan.

Which probably isn't very efficient.

The case I use has a giant 120mm fan at the back, and two 80mm intakes. One at the front, one at the side. It is a layout which is becoming more common. It seems to really cool effectively.

I was speaking idiomatically.
