Yikes! If every family in the US racked up a $1 million phone bill, it still wouldn't equal this. I guess he must have let E.T. phone home.

Question is, how would someone rack up such a huge phone bill? Did he place a 12 hour international call to everyone in the word or something? Chances are it's just a huge accounting error. And why force someone to pay $218 trillion? That's more than even the assets of the Earth.

Well how else are they gonna raise money? If he even paid 1% of that, he'd make the phone company richer.

The problem is no single entity could afford to pay even 1% of that, it'd be nearly equal to the United State's federal budget.
It makes that national debt look like a tiny IOU

What I want to know is how they came up with such a number. It said that the phone service company should have disconnected service in January. But that is all I can see to work with.

Obviously, it did not cost them even the slightest fraction of that number to provide the services for him.

I also like how the article said the man can't wait to face the company in court.

I couldn't walk in with a straight face. Anything they'd ask me, I'd burst out laughing.

Laughing. Lots of it. Phone company officials coming back to the office, "Sorry guys, but we can't all retire 10 times over."

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Naturally, if the phone company's PR dept. is anything like they are here in America, the guy is going to get a big apology.

If you read the news article in that link, you'd of been able to see the segment where it describes how he "thought" he had disconnected the service, but it was still in working condition. Silently building up charges.

Yeah, but $218 trillion in silent charges? I could understand if it was $1000, or $10,000 but $218 trillion? Something tells me that the problem wasn't that he thought he'd disconnected the service.

O.O no one could talk up a bill that large.
He *nearly* fainted? I would have had a heart-attack!
Where did the phone company come up with the number? Seriously it was 3 months not...300 years?
