StarCraft Ghost Indefinitely Postponed?

I just saw this:
http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/blizzar...ned-162934.php

There's no mention of it at Blizzard.com or Battle.net as of this posting, so maybe it's just a rumor? As much as I hate seeing it being delayed yet again it's probably for the best. We all know that the screenshots and gameplay footage were average at best, and with next-gen just around the corner, this game is bound to bomb in sales on current-gen systems.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I thought it was finally going to be released next month? If this is true, there's no way it would be scrapped.

Looks like we have another WarCraft: Adventures going on here. You can expect Blizzard to pull the plug on the game sometime in the next year (of course they could just decide to release a mediocre Blizzard game, which would seriously piss off the dozens of StarCraft fanboys hoping to have their StarCraft 2 wetdream come true).

I was speaking idiomatically.

Actually, one of the reasons I respect Blizzard is that they've never released any crappy game just to get it over with and get cash in while fully knowing it sucked. Or if they did, it was overshadowed by their other, good games. I suppose we can expect the same thing with Ghost. Either they'll cancel it or get the thing done, and done well. Either way I don't mind. I would enjoy shredding some Zerg with a side dish of Protoss, but I'm not even sure I'd actually buy it if it'd came out.

Also, get started on Starcraft 2 you lazy bastards!

I've always knew that game was never going to come out. Its been "in development" for what? 3+ years I think? Each time they put out a release date they always retract the statement, then tell us to look forward to some new release date. They'll probably give us news on 4/1 that Ghost was just one big and long lasting April Fools joke.

Actually, I would not be surprised if Blizzard made a Worlds of Starcraft after they've milked the WoW teat enough.

And Diablo 3 is gonna play like WoW anyway, except with random dungeons.

Huzzah for Blizzard.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You've got to wonder how much money Blizzard lost on this project. That and why they just couldn't get it right. I'm wondering if it was poor from a gameplay, story, environment, technical...I wonder why they can't release it.

From what I've seen over the years, Blizzard's been known to delay their games a lot. I agree that it would be a shame if Ghost got scrapped entirely; I don't really see why they would do that. Surely it'd would disappoint a lot of people as others have said.

Delays aside, Blizzard does for the most part get it right when their games come out. We waited a long time for Diablo 2, a long time for Warcraft 3, but both games were and still are fantastic. I wouldn't be too surprised if this history repeats itself with Ghost.

Maybe I'm just instigating something based on my hopes, but what if Blizzard were delaying this title (at this point) in favor of Ghost being a launch PS3 title?

Every year I've seen Starcraft: Ghost, it's been completely different than the last. First it was an awesome hybrid of action, light strategy and stealth. Years of "evolution" later, it's a mediocore looking shooter without a brain.

Any delay on this game is a good thing, especially this late in the console cycle. Ghost has the potential to be an awesome game, but only if Swinging Ape can stop dumbing it down.

Seems like it would be a waste of two years of work (in addition to the 2 years of work that had been put into the original version before they scrapped it). I don't know what else they'd have Swinging Ape do if they're going to give up on Starcraft Ghost, maybe a next gen Blackthorne?

But if the story goes now to the Ghost adventures, when will Starcraft original storyline continue?
What will happen with the protoss/zerg hybrid Zeratul discovers in the bonus mission of the Zerg (Broodwar)?

Not surprised. I mean, this is Blizzard. If the length between the Diablo 2 upgrades from 1.09 to 1.10 are any indication of their releases, this won't be out for at least another year.

By then it'll probably be cancelled indefinitely, as the next generation consoles will be out by then and nobody would be interested. Starcraft is a great game, and while people acknowledge that Ghost is in the pipeline, people are still hoping for Starcraft 2. I know I am.

Starcraft Ghost had a good point? All the footage of it I've seen has been shoddy, unfinished or just downright hilarious:

On the plus side, this means concentration on Starcraft 2 will become more thorough.

You mean concentration on Starcraft 2 will actually begin. Blizzard hasn't been doing any work at all on SC2, as far as I know. Most of their time seems to be spent counting the money they're making from World of Warcraft.
