That can't be fixed. The LCD cells have physically been damaged and nothing short of replacing the screen with resolve the problem.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, your screen is done for. While CRT televisions can get rid of magnetization (even some CRT monitors can with a deguass feature), I'm not sure if LCDs have that advantage. From my experience, once any LCD display gets damaged, only replacing the whole thing will fix it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

LCD's don't get magnetized, because they don't have anything to magnetize in the first place like CRTs.

Unfortunately, you're going to have to replace the screen. It looks like it got hit, or something, and damaged a bunch of cells. Given the age of the laptop (8MB of RAM?), you're probably best off replacing it instead of trying to repair it. Besides, judging from the error message on screen, the hard drive on it is broken anyways, so no big loss. ^^

The cost of repair is more than the laptop is worth.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Is there a vga out? It may not be portable but at least you wouldn’t have to look at it.
Just to ask what are the specs on that bad boy anyway?
