Have you ever heard or tried?....

Have you ever tried this?

You take two slices of bread, butter each one up, and grab chocolate sprinkles (specific ones from the Netherlands) and throw them on top of each slice of bread.

MMMMMMMMM soooooo good!

So, have you ever tried it? My grandparents introduced me to that stuff when I was really young and I have been hooked ever since! They were from the Netherlands and bought those chocolate sprinkles all the time. We have a local store that imports them. They are called De Ruijter milk chocolate sprinkles.

Butter? With chocolate? As a toast-like dish? That doesn't sound very appealing at all.

If you are in Canada, they have them at Superstore. If there is one near you. I will see if I can get an image of the box.

I've been eating that since I was a kid. It's quite common here to eat that actually.
But than again I'm Belgian... chocolate is our middlename.

Haha...my mom totally swears by De Ruijter sprinkles. I've never tried the toast/bread thing, but those are the only brand of chocolate sprinkles my mom has used since forever. We get them in a Swedish town that sells European imports, and they're kind of pricey, but we don't use them that often.

I read that this was the way that mid-to-upper-class Dutch people started eating breakfast, because prior to this bread-chocolate thing, 'real' breakfast was left to the working folk.

I haven't tried chocolate on buttered bread, but my mother used to add a bit of sugar when I was younger. I'd be willing to try the chocolate on bread if the slices were slightly toasted.

Here is a link to an image with some De Ruijter products:
