The Gamingforce Soundtrack - ver. 3 - Quiet Place edition
All righty then, it looks like it's that time of year again!
Help out by choosing those quiet, serene, mellow, peaceful tracks from all genres to fill out this relaxing album. CHANGE: Please provide a link to the song; preferably by yousendit.com since Megaupload has too much slutty popups + lower retrieve speed. However, you can still nominate a song if you believe it is cream of the crop, but it'll be hard to put on a soundtrack if it's not given :s Worst case scenario...download ITunes and rip the song from the cd if you have it. - All are welcome to nominate, especially since diversity is a key ingredient. - Three to five suggestions per person would be great. - Try not to reuse too much tracks from the old albums. - Providing lyics is not required, but if you think they're really meaningful then go right on ahead! That said, the floor is open for suggestions... To kick it off, this is the kind of peacefulness I'm talking about: 1) Shinai Naru Tomo E by Yoko Shimomura from FF Potion 2) Friend by Tenpei Sato and Rei Tashi from Phantom Brave 3) Marche (Love for Humanity Version) by Akira Sasaki from FFTA White Melodies |

I won't link to this song since I don't have it uploaded in any server, but it's pretty easy to find. If you want this album to be real cool, then add:
Dream of the Shore Bordering Another World from Chrono Cross. |
harry gregson williams - evacuating london
I just like this song. it's actually from the Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack, but I think it works for the theme. it's calm and soothing. yada yada. mono - slimecea girl the "I have issues and/or angst" song. off the album "Formica Blues". muse - unintended the "I have deep feelings of love" song. off the album "Showbiz". |
Oh man... One song that I'd love to see on here just to see something different is Nujabes - Eclipse. It's hip-hop, but don't let that turn anyone off to it. It's actually one of the most intense love songs ever written in the genre.
"Your lips on mine, the eclipse over lunar. I'll see you soon but I'll talk to you sooner." ava! Mono = <3 But Silicone is a better song. |

Driving Miss Daisy Original Soundtrack - Hans Zimmer - "End Titles"
Listen and tell me this isn't serene and uplifting enough for inclusion. |
It's unworthy until someone stickies the thread lol j/k ;) It seems to pick up the pace a bit in the middle, but it's not like all of the tracks should be totally slow and dead throughout their durations.
All of this is some good stuff here. It'll be hard to choose from everything :( I'm glad that Eclipse was thrown in. It's definitely a different take, although most people would probably be confused initially at it's placing. |
Actually yes please...shamefully I don't gather very much of mainstream stuff or anything apart from anime/game music :s
|
Dir en grey - Embryo
A slow rock song, a bit erie, very emotional. I'd suggest the single edit since the faint of heart with good Japanese skills might find the album version quite disturbing. Akira Yamaoka feat. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn - Letter (From The Lost Days) One of those great songs from the newer Silent Hill games. Beautiful. Nine Inch Nails - Leaving Hope Instrumental piano/synth piece. Quiet yet moving. Garbage - Milk Another slow piece frome Garbage's self-titled debut. Shirley Manson's voice gives the song an almost spheric quality. I'll check out yousendit.com later and see if I can get those uploaded. |
|
David Brubeck - Take Five. Smooth, quiet jazz.
|
Mountain of the Night - Abdullah Ibrahim
http://uploadfile.putfile.com/videos/9120545599.mp3 When It Rains - Brad Mehldau http://uploadfile.putfile.com/videos/9120593321.mp3 Two of the best peaceful jazz tunes out there with a groove. Zero7 stuff is also fantastic peaceful music. One of their best songs with one of my favorite beats in any song, ever: Spinning - Zero7 http://uploadfile.putfile.com/videos/9121092634.mp3 Spoiler:
Man, I could probably make a list of 30 songs that would be great. Doesn't help that I have a certain preference for these kinds of songs. OK 2 more and I'm done. Now We Are Free - Gladiator (that's right the movie, I love this song from it for some reason) http://uploadfile.putfile.com/videos/9121253338.mp3 Fiona Apple - I Know http://uploadfile.putfile.com/videos/9121304482.mp3 Spoiler:

I'm starting to have a newfound appreciation for all songs that fall below 75 bpm. Lots of ambient stuff, as well as some jazzy contenders. I can't help but think that Quiet Place songs seem to have a blurry border with Chillout Lounge songs, since they're all so relaxing. I could definitely chill out to all these songs, which is what I was doing earlier in fact :)
I definitely like Muse's "Unintended" so far, something real good would have to knock it out of an album spot, in my opinion. It's still difficult to distinguish the best variety out of the 20 or so songs everyone posted. Keep 'em coming. That said, here's my bias for vgm again with another beautiful song: Dimension Breach by Yasunori Mitsuda from Chrono Cross Cyrus XIII, Devo, BucPride - I guess I would prefer samples of these songs sometime as well...no rush yet |
Sorry to nominate something from a fairly well used album, but "Such Great Heights" by Iron and Wine, off of the Garden State Soundtrack is a really peaceful, calm song.
If you need it, I can get it to you within a couple weeks. |

Boards of Canada - Zeotrope
It's a quiet, nice, sparkly relaxing piece of music. Sigur Ros - Avalon Sigur Ros are the kings of this sort of realxing mellow music. Fear Factory - Ascension The sorta lead-off track from "Human Shields". Quite calm and mellow. Aphex Twin - btoum roumada There's quite a few tranquil songs on the "Druqks" album, here is one of the most relaxing imo. I'll think of more later. >_> |

Eee, this is what I get for missing one day...fortunately I caught all those nominations and sealed them on my hd. Thanks for providing links :)
Major change to the first post, so those who haven't provided links please send the songs on over...or I'll just PM you soon if you feel passionate about your song nominations. I will restate: keep them coming! ;) |
I'll throw in four here.
Taku Iwasaki - Gentlemanlike, All Too Gentlemanly (aka Shinshiteki Na, Amari Ni Shinshiteki), from the Read Or Die OVA Soundtrack. E.S. Posthumus - Cuzco Tsuneo Imahori - Not An Angel, from Trigun Orbital - Halcyon & On & On All of which I find relaxing. I've put them in a RAR archive here on YSI. |
|
okie Im gonna add some pure-music-no-vocal-whatsoever
I zipped them together and upped into YSI, okie? Taku Iwasaki - The Sound of Snow Falling (from Rurouni Kenshin OVA) Nobuo Uematsu - Blue Field (Final Fantasy VIII) Masashi Hamauzu - Wandering Flame (Final Fantasy X) Ayashi no ceres - Scarlet (Piano) YSI Download - Music from Flara.zip |
Enigma - Gravity of Love
Delerium - Silence feat. Sarah McLachlan(Original Version) 2 very beautiful relaxing songs. |
My fifth allowable nomination:
Puffy - Always Dreaming About You Give that one a listen guys! Finally something that is a bit more of the "folksy" side of quiet songs instead of the slow touching songs that I couldn't seem to break away from. Rather clear English and simple overall. |
Fitting with the name of the forum, how about John Cage's 4'33" ?

Sorry if these were already on last years.
Dear Friends - Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy V Piano Collections) <- make sure piano. Talk - Coldplay The National Anthem - Radiohead Porcelain - Moby I wasn't actually sure how quiet you wanted. Dear Friends is really really quiet. But the other 3 are mellow and peaceful, kind of quiet but not really. I guess if you had to, only pick one or the soundtrack might be a big too "loud". :P |
Okay screw my last post, I've 7z'ed a bunch of mp3s.
http://rapidshare.de/files/18651404/tqpstuff.7z.html · cEvin Key - Shortwave Connector (nice little song from one of the Skinny Puppy guys' solo project) · Aphex Twin - Btoum roumada (weird relaxing reverby bell type thing. Too short imo) · Boards of Canada - Sherbert Head (nice little "frothy" song. It's the calmest BoC song I could find) · Carpark North - Rest (weird slow paced song) · Aphex Twin - Alberto Balsalm (nice little calm tune from Aphex Twin) · Fear Factory - Ascension (as I said before in my last post) · Rammstein - Wilder Wein (demo from the industrial group, nice and calm but the Live Aus Berlin version which I don't have is better because of the Acoustic guitars bit at the end) · Skinny Puppy - The Centre Bullet (about 10ish minutes of sweeping swaying ambiency-ness which is unusual for the industrial scare-mongers) · Bjork - You've Been Flirting Again (flirt is a promise mix) (this remix is a lot calmer and nicer than the original) · Boards of Canada - Zoetrope (like I said earlier >_>) · Sigur Ros - Avalon (also like I said earlier) · Mad Capsule Markets - Kumo (there's something I find uber relaxing about this song) EDIT oh god you only said like 3-5. Oops. ._> |

As for nominating more than 3-5 :) hehe, no worries, I hope these are really good! Since you took the time to compile them all, it doesn't hurt anyways. |
Okee dokee! We've had approximately 28 days (as of the time of this post) to mull over our soothing, relaxing songs. Thank you for all who nominated. I will compile the album very soon. Look for a voting period SOON for some songs I can't decide upon. If you don't vote soon, then I'll arbitrarily be choosing everything, which you all probably would dislike.
Edit: SOON Edit 2: Sorry, I've decided already...so I will refrain from holding a vote ;) Edit 3: k, song listing will be up tomorrow, and the songs themselves will come up sometime AFTER the song listing (long uploading time for me) |

Here we go.
Thanks for contrbuting :) |
