The GBA doesn't have as many channels as the SNES does so when doing ports of SNES games to GBA you almost always lose some amount of music quality. Sometimes the only feasible way to make it work is completely redoing the music.

I told you that a general Donkey Kong (well DKC but whatever) discussion thread of past games and future games would be fine and you went and did that which was good, but you had to insert that little snide comment and thus here I am asking what the problem is.

That's all good and well. However you closed the thread abruptly without any explanation at first so I just did not see what the reasoning was. I now see where you're coming from. Anyway, know that I had no intention of creating a Jungle Beat debate thread. If I did, the thread's title would have reflected that. But hey, it's fine. I think this thread's turning out more interesting anyway.

It was a massive and unreasonable collect-a-thon. Make 5 characters collect bananas from all over the fucking huge map in order to make the slightest progress. Not fun.
Ick, I didn't realize the mighty RARE stooped to such cheap tricks. Perhaps they are a bit overrated after all. On a different note, I'm really curious to see what Nintendo will do with the franchise on the Revo.

I'm more excited about Banjo Kazooie 360 more than this Donkey Kong nonsense.

I do think Nintendo will make a good platforming game though. Just not as fun as Banjo Kazooie 3.

It would look like this

LOL!
Nintendo haven't even released any gams for Rare to photocopy though! Banjo 3 wont even exist.

I'm surprised you have never heard about this. They hyped this game like crazy as well.

I hear Rare's making Donkey Kong Racing for Project Dolphin. Been in development for six years now, it's gonna be awesome. =D

Well, I just go by the news. I remember reading something that said Banjo Kazooie 3 would definitely come out on the 360....too bad I can't remember where I got that info from :(...I think it was from IGN.

Rare platformers have never been as good as Nintendo platformers. DKC falls short of Super Mario World, Banjo falls short of Mario 64.

"Ick, I didn't realize the mighty RARE stooped to such cheap tricks. Perhaps they are a bit overrated after all."

What? Every Rare platformer, with the exception of DKC, is a collectathon. It's like the Super Mario Sunshine blue coin deal, except with Rare that's pretty much the entire game.
It's probably apparent that I'm not exactly a big Rare fan. I've just always felt as though they make mediocre games. They've got a few good ones, but I think the vast majority of them lack anything special, anything really worthwhile.
And nowadays they're even worse. They're a group of people riding on a name that made a few good games.

...And you riding the Mario train is different right?

How about this?

Et tu, Miyamoto?

Grubdog Apr 23, 2006 11:53 PM

What?

Well anyway there's a rumor floating around that there's going to be a DK game shown for Rev at E3, from the DKJB dev team, I hope it's true. I can't think of another Nintendo dev team who would handle DK better.

Jesus Christ, Synthesis. It's a joke. That game was revealed before Gamecube's first E3 in a video. It was never seen again. Noone ever got to play the game and as we all know Rare went over to Microsoft after Star Fox Adventures Dinosaur Planet. In that transition a bunch of franchises Nintendo allowed Rare to keep. Banjo Kazooie, whether you liked it or not and I certainly did, was one of those franchises Rare got to keep. Hopefully the third console game of the series will be good, but that's neither here nor there since this is a thread about Donkey Kong.

Also, I suggest that you stop with the Nintendo Mario whoring etc. haterism crap in here, Synthesis, as it always goes nowhere and is pointless. People wouldn't buy these games if they didn't enjoy them whether they were made by Nintendo or made by Rare.

and dear god why do you have Bible Black in your sig?

HostileCreation Apr 24, 2006 01:32 AM

"...And you riding the Mario train is different right?"

This doesn't even make sense. I was talking about Rare, the group of people who made the game. Not the people who play it.
I will admit that I thought Sunshine, a few glaring faults aside (blue coins and the plot) was a brilliant game. It was just plain fun.
But it's the only Mario Gamecube game I own, unless you count Luigi's Mansion. I don't own Mario Tennis or Mario Party or any of those.
Either way, I don't see how that has anything to do with Rare being washed up, and my opinion that they were never all that great to begin with.

Are you serious? It's a joke? The second I saw "Project Dolphin" I knew it was BS. You're awesome for picking up on that.

 My bad. I just misread your post.

I must admit Rare is in quite a situation here. In regards to the next-gen consoles, it has done poorly. Especially with Perfect Dark: Zero not being the killer-app that Rare was hoping it'd be.

I'm curious, was there even a single Donkey Kong game that had you feeling satisfied at the end? Or has the entire lineup been a complete letdown for you?
