Yousendit.com sold out...

Yousendit was my favorite File Delivering service...until they recently added a fee if you want to send something over 50 MB.

I'm sure not that many people care but anyways...I loved the service but I don't think it was good enough to pay. Though, I wonder if other File delivery services will eventually do the same.

Oh well, I guess I'll bump sendspace.com up to my favorite File Delivery service.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oh, fuck, they sold out? God dammit, it was the last true punk rock file upload server on the internet. Shit.

I'm not really suprised by this. Megaupload and rapidshare already have simillar systems in place and it's probably only a matter of time before the lesser known services, like sendspace for instance, set something up as well. But as long as the restrictions for non-paying people are within reasonably limits I don't much mind it either.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

They should have set the limitation to something like 150 MB or something. It seems like 50 will just not be enough.

It's bad, but not that bad. You could always just split a file into multiple parts that are under 50MB and send it that way if you still wanted to use it that badly.

Eww, I was liking YSI too. However, I was suggested Pando by the friend of one of my instructor. He's basically involved with launching this start-up company. So far, it's pretty nice. You can send entire directories and stuff too. For this, you have to download a program and use that. When you e-mail something, the receiver gets a .pando file that they open up with the program also to download the goods. I guess this prevents the mass sharing.

It's a shame, but, I suppose that it's only natural. More traffic = more bandwidth, and bandwidth certainly isn't free.

I prefer rapidshare for most things, but with megaupload you can do up to 250mb at a time, which is nice. Sometimes megaupload downloads quit on me, though.

I thought this was only for the Beta YouSendIt site. Has it really happened to the normal site as well?

If it has... well, I ain't surprised either. They were gonna start restrictions someday.

Never really liked YSI. The 7 day/25 download limit didn't make files last long, and it was certainly a waste of time especially if you uploaded an entire OST or something with a large filesize.

Plus, I wonder how YSI is going to compete with RapidShare and Megaupload with the 50 MB max free upload. MU and RS both have optional "premium" services which you have to pay for, but they allow you to upload bigger files for free (RS = 100 MB and MU = 250 MB)

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

It doesn't cost anything to download files. However, there's a few fees if you want to upload files. If you sign up for a free account you get a 100MB maximum upload limit for each file, which is good for me since I almost never send anything over 100MB.

I thought as well, too. When did this change happen?

The only problem I have with sendspace.com is the fact that they cap your download speed.

ysi sold out huh... don't worry, we still have sendspace. I prefer sendspace in file delivering since the quota is crazy (50 gb).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
You all think you got good deals, huh? Ha! You frugal and observant shoppers have more to learn.

None of that approaches this:

Damn, now there's only 499 other file upload sites we can use now.

And yes, it is the normal YSI it is affecting. Though if you sign up you can send 100Mb files for free still - https://beta.yousendit.com/whyyousendit.php

YSI isn't worthy caring about when every other host out there offers better, well, everything...

Anyway, I haven't been using them for quite sometime. Who wants to keep uploading the same thing over and over there because the link becomes dead within 24-48 hours? Or, keep wondering when the upload will finish because the lack of a progress bar? Not me, at least!

I used YSI a lot over the past year or so. Uploading large files was sometimes problematic, crapping out often. But downloading was fast and convenient.

Yeah, I noticed the other day that YSI is charging fees now for uploads larger than 50mb.

Time to use something else for sharing those Family Guy episodes.

Sendspace is a better alternative. I'm glad the Yousendit change prompted me to use it.
