And I STILL lack the ninja, master monk and the scholar job classes.
Today I finally got some new knives, Swordbreaker and two others. Learned Loot Levels 2 and 3 for Luso and Leech for my Ranger, so I just stole some nice stuff off of the past few enemies. Now I'm noticing that my knuckle weapon selection is crap-- best I have is Kaiser Knuckle.

Where are these Seeq niggers at. I'm at around 30 hours 60+ quests and haven't seen one yet.

Lollin at the Clan Trails though. I forgot all about them while I was around questing, having done 3 near the beginning, and now that I had a few moments I just went back and did around 5 or so, including two of the combination ones.

"Kill two monsters in two rounds."
"Aight."
:: one hit kill::
:: one hit kill::
"Done."

So overpowered it hurts. It's unfair to be able to wait so long to do these.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I didn't bother looking at the Red King quest's level until after I'd already accepted it, and tried it at level 10. That was a fairly one-sided fight. Surprisingly I managed to dish out about 100 damage first, but only thanks to Air Render's godly might and her accuracy apparently being terrible.
Wait, you beat her at level 10? Or did you only get to do 100 damage before getting horribly raped by doublecast? =o
If it's the first one, holy shit .

Bah! I JUST got a new knife with a thief ability earlier today. Too bad the ability requires 550 points to be mastered. To make matters worse it nearly broke my bank, damn thing costs over 10,000 gil, lawl.

Yeah, after venturing for over 25 hours I finally ran into a Seeq. Rangers and Pirates job classes here I come.

And the clan trails. In hindsight the only reason I'd do as many clan trails as possible is to get the shop discounts early on. And, maybe, to get the extra loot each battle gives you.

Oh god no, there was no way I could win. I only managed to deal about 100 damage, mostly because she targeted my Monk last and Luso somehow managed to dodge every one of her doublecasts for the first two rounds.

I'm glad some of my struggles aren't unique to me. It's maddening being only one Thief action ability away from the Ninja job and not having any equipment in the foreseeable future that can grant it.

Adelle just joined the group and, considering the nuisance she was, I basically said "Screw you, have fun being a soldier for a while lolz". I FINALLY got a staff that grants a second white mage ability (Cura), so now my nu mou will eventually be able to be something besides a white/black mage or a beastmaster ().

There was a lot for me to learn (and relearn) since I only played the original Tactics and next to none of the more recent FF games, but I'm liking it so far.

Is it still not for a while that people come looking to join your clan? I figured it was that but maybe there's something else I'm not doing right. I completed all the clan trials thus far at the middle difficulty.

Speaking of clan trials, I've had my share of BS on them too. One of them had the law of not being allowed to attack units two or more squares away, but the loopholes for violations were infuriating. Two in particular:

1. Not so much BS, just mean. One of my group got charmed and she decided to try Sleep on some people.

2. I crit one of the baddies with a standard attack, which resulted in a KO. Sweet, right? Wrong. It knocked them back, and that apparently caused a violation.

And, in case someone hasn't pointed it out before, laws forbidding abilities that don't consume MP does not include standard attacks or Counter. I wasn't sure at first and the discovery was quite a relief.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Just beat Blue King Bliu a little while ago at level 34. Surprisingly... not that difficult. He has an annoying spell that hits with earth magic(k) then follows up with a couple of physical hits against anyone in range, but he can't use it often. I think he ends up being a bit easier because of your larger mastery of advanced jobs, so go in there and pummel him with a Fighter and Templar. I haven't tried fighting Green King yet.

Also, everyone, be sure to Loot him. I used Loot Level 3 (with my new Bandit's Gloves or whatever they're called to slightly increase steal rates) and nabbed Godwood, which is probably the last item all of you need to make a Malbow. It's a Rank A weapon, so I think it's sort of an early shot at nabbing a really nice bow.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You beat the Blue King at 34? Man I need to stop wussing out then. My main 6 are all around 40 now, but I saw he was a level 55 and decided to wait a little bit. ;_;

55 hours and 141 missions in here, and I just got a Seeq. I've two Gria's for a bit, which I'm thankful for since they can travel so much further than everyone else and tear shit up. Good for the mountain range missions.

Noticing that Bangaa have been beefed up this time around too. Well, not so much beefed up but they got some really good additional classes since they were already good bruisers before. Master Monk is pretty awesome, and Cannoneer comes with Ether Shell, which is invaluable if you have Illusionists/Summoners/Turbo MP people on your team.

Final note: LOOOOOOL @ the cat eared hood Seers wear, and I got the Ragetsu-denbu (Dual Wield ability ninja sword) for being Area Champ over in the Goug area. I had all four areas won, not sure if that's a requirement.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Yeah, he's no big trouble. What I'm struggling with is the Moorabella Tourney Cup quest. The Nu Mou Nobles' Illusionist charges MP absurdly fast.

I got my Seeq after meeting Lezaford, I think. As for Gria, I've sort of wanted one for the range too, but the Faerie Shoes sort of negate that advantage they had.

Just fought Ewan and stole his Ninja Tabi after like ten tries. By the looks of it though (Move +2), it's worth it!

Can you use Rend MP or some other MP draining ability (Aero, etc.) against them or is there a law against that in that tourney?

No Items is the law, so MP draining is okay. However, it's easier to just blast the shit out of him and kill him rather than let him linger while draining his MP. The problem is getting people to reach him in time.

Just made a Nail Bow, which teaches Rangers the Mirror Item skill. And so it begins.

Holy FUCK everyone needs a Master Monk with Cross-counter, stat. It's pretty much the best thing ever since everyone and their mother has Counter midway through the game and it allows you to rape them with no remorse. It looks like it does double damage+ and negates the enemy Counter. So sweet.

Just got a little further in the story (too many side quests ._.) and finally got that lil' Moogle named Hurdy. Best name ever. He's so cute too, can I take him home.

lawl, tell me about it. The master monk in my clan has a evasion rate of 29% plus blink counter. Which is pretty damn awesome *tosses him into a pit of Malboros to see him dodge everything*
My question now is what armor or weapon teaches my monk Cross-counter?

You're probably a bit farther than me by now. I just met Hurdy but then I decided to go side questing again. NOW I'm stuck in this battle tower-like place fighting all sorts of monsters. This is what I get for reading all those notices D:

You learn Cross-Counter through the weapon "Fanatic". Forgot which category in the Bazaar gets you it but it looks like a red/yellow pair of nunchucks.

Also, If you're talking about the tower in Grazston, I wouldn't do it. The monsters at the top are all level 90 or so. How far are you anyways? I'm at 70hrs/190 missions right now, up to the story mission "A Request", which is three after Hurdy's mission in the timeline.

Ah ok, I just need the loot then.

Anyway, yeah. It's that tower. Curiosity got the best of me. I was doing well up until the first watch area where I thoroughly got my ass kicked before I could make the first move. That rabbit could rip a tank apart .
(most of my team is at lv.40 or lv.39. The guys on the first watch floor were all lv.50. Yeah, I got raped.)

On the up side I did gain a few levels and lots of rare loot inbetween each battle.

I got Fanatic in Camoa's Auction House. Not sure if the prizes are randomized between all Houses, but it's a start I guess.

I just made the Katana that teaches Dual Wield, so I'm trying to learn that. I've run out of things to teach my Seeq though, so I'm considering moving ahead in the story a bit faster to unlock Viking. I hear Lanista isn't until very late into the game, though.

Oh yeah, that's where I got it. Excellent work, GameBoy.

As for the Lanista, I just got a quest called Lanista's Pride, which I can confirm is the mission to get the class. Presumably because it unlocked with the rest of the quests I unlocked after doing the story mission "A Request". A Request is the first block of 5-E in the Quest Report if you need a gauge of how close or far you are.

EDIT: Same goes for the Ravager class.

EDIT2: Ahahahaha, once you teach Cid Ultima Sword the game is essentially over. Overpowered SO BAD. If you haven't been taking on Chita's missions (Chita On X speed battles) you need to. After the third one you get the Materia Blade, and holy wow is Ultima Sword amazing. Takes 32 MP to cast, but if you've got someone with Ether Shell this is no problem. Cid (or any Bangaa/Gladiator for that matter) can just walk up to people and destroy their FACES in one hit, from the front even! Jesus.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm on Sleepless Nights, the last quest in 3-C. That's not too bad, then. I may burn through after all, just picking up other job quests along the way. I need to figure out when exactly I can start the secret character sidequests.

Well, I did exactly that and beat the game last night. Seriously, this game is... is the Seinfeld of Final Fantasy-- there is no overall story; just various encounters the characters stumble into until the conclusion. It made absolutely no sense. At least the final boss was respectably difficult.

I also read up on the character sidequests and have everyone except
Spoiler:
Montblanc.
Oddly enough though, my favorite is the one least-liked by the community.

There is something in the air. Can you not feel it?:
Seriously, Al-Cid is awesome. Yes, he has no jobs besides Agent, but Agent skills are actually very useful for support and defense (of females). Interrogation lets you see all possible loot, gil, and items any given monster may hold, Succor is basically his own personal Inner Focus (healing + debuff removal), and Escort more or less works like Cover for females. And since Al-Cid will be staying waaay in the back to shoot at stuff, there's no problem having him cover people every so often and using Succor to heal up afterwards.

There're still a few other skills to teach him, so I'll probably like him even more before I'm done.

Unique moogle characters are disappointing because of their lack of access to Chocobo Knight. Certainly not a deal-breaker, but it's not making me like moogles any more than I do right now.

I thought Cid having a bangaa jobset was weird, but it turns out
Spoiler:
Penelo
has a viera jobset! Kind of relieved, since there are too many Hume special characters as is.

Sounds like Penelo is
Spoiler:
another Ritz, since Ritz had Viera jobs too.

Also yeah, there is more or less no heavy plot this time, but that's mainly what peoples complaint about the last one was, that the story was too serious. Can't complain there.

The side quest characters are all entertaining enough if you do them all, especially since so many of them are like mini stories of their own. From the Bonga Bugle chapters, to chasing the Prima Donna Devotees down to eventually fighting alongside PD themselves (which was cool), to stuff like the tale of Sir Luc Sardarc and his Blademaster companion Frimelda. There's really too many to name. I liked the ones where you helped the Viera that wanted to keep the Wyrm as a pet though. Lulzy.

Also, I ran into
Spoiler:
Ezel last night! The No Mu from the first game who invented the law cards. <3 He gave me a special card that'd make it so baddies couldn't toss out my judge any more. I wonder if that will come in play during the final chapters. Good to see some of the FFTA1 cast is still around.

Witch of the Fens is hot, don't deny it. Don't deny it! <3 Viera.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I'm so behind you guys so I'm doing my best to not read your posts .

I've about spent 55 hours (110 missions done) in the game and I still haven't progressed much at all since my last post. But I did run into the 4 commanders of duelhorn or whatever they're called. Stole that ninja's Tabi shoes too so I'm feeling pretty good.

I'll beat this game some day!

More awesome to be found though, as the conclusion to Blademaster Frimelda's story has you
Spoiler:
finding a way to revive her thanks to the ballin Witch of the Fens, and she even joins your clan! She's level 43, but she comes strong enough to consider making a main unit. She even comes with Dual Wield already learned. Bawwww, happy endings. ;___;

I wound up trying the clan trails after I beat all of the main quests. Unfortunately, there seems to be a check to being overpowered with General Training II and its ">20 damage forbidden" law. My Black Mage even deals 34 damage with an unequipped attack.

Yeah, yeah, late reply.

There's nothing that requires you to uphold that law in order to complete the Clan Trial though. Just beat the hell out of the monsters while doing as much damage as you like, you just won't get a bonus item at the end.

Edit: 280 Quests done! I believe there's 300 total, so now comes the part where I run around forever trying to figure out how to get the last couple of quests unlocked. Fighting the Kings at level 99 at the same time is going to be all kinds of anger inducing, I'm sure. Can't wait to take on that mission.

I completely overlooked that detail. I assumed I had to uphold the law for completion like some of the other clan quests (Reading is power!). That piece of info will definitely come in handy for other clan trials with optional laws like "No Thunder, Ice, and Fire," "Bishops can only move diagonally," or something else restrictive and silly.

On another note...
Spoiler:
I recently encountered Lenneth, and I haven't even bothered using Adelle yet. I didn't stand a chance when she had to face off against Lenneth by herself.
