URBX: Let's exclude Pang Again!

So Diss and I have been exchanging quite a few PMs to strategize, so I figured it was time to revive this age old DnD tradition of strategy threads.

Wether this thing will be useful beyond the next 4 posts remains to be seen, but if we somehow get through this thing alive, it should be considered the go to place for planning our next horrible mishap while keeping it a surprise to Pang.

And speaking of Pang, could you kindly post once so we can kick you out forever?

With my tentacle move I can pretty much kill two minions a turn and I'd say that wiping out the support then ganging up on the big guy is probably the way to go here. Get the miners first, then the engineers, then the guards. I've got a few ways to immobilise the Rancor which might help us get round it to deal with the others or failing that, we could always retreat back up the tunnels and take out the little guys from range one at a time and hope the Rancor has no ranged attacks.

Since I'm last again I'm sure I'll have to heavily reevaluate anything I come up with now, but here are some thoughts.

- Rancor is probably gonna be pretty pissed at you, assuming it identified you as the guy who started shooting it in the face while it napped.

- Though the miners will die if you look at them hard enough, they're potentially able to still dish out the hurt, so be careful.

- Long Arms of the Sea is potentially incredible against the Rancor, since I agree that it's doubtful it has much in the way of a ranged attack. Just don't miss or you're totally screwed. Oath of Enmity could help with that, in addition to providing the Focused Fury pushback if necessary.

- I have a close burst 2 that will pretty much kill all the miners in the affected area, but I can only use it once and I have to roll 10 or higher to hit the miners with it. Which means I'll roll a 4.

- Rufus' alpha is lol if we exploit it well. We could potentially just steal all of the kobolds' equipment so they can't do anything. Potentially.

Sadly oath of enmity doesn't work with the tentacle move, only on adjacent melee attacks but hitting two baddies at once will help clear out the minions, although tentacles is about my least accurate attack here. I have the shared madness move that hits anything in the room on a six or better and would be handy for picking off an extra minion with the shared damage.

In terms of controlling the fight, my Omega and my daily will both immobilise the target and with the ongoing damage element of my daily, it might be worth dropping that early. If the Rancor comes over and hits me, it might be worth me hitting him with that to keep him pinned in place and taking rolling damage hopefully for a few turns while we back up and shoot holes in it. If it's blocking one tunnel entrance the Kobolds are effectively funnelled down the other tunnel, practically queuing up to die. Haha, Esperansita can pull them down the corridor one at a time with Dark Beckoning while you and Kickpunch can use a combination of his Hunter's quarry and Furious Slash and your Savage Reach to kill them quickly and hilariously bounce them back up the corridor to stop them getting attacks in or into Rufus's Ownership zone to steal all their gear.

I guess if it all goes tits up we at least have Kickpunch's stirges and Esperansita's turn into a full-hit-point slime backups. My alpha is a bit pointless this time out although admittedly less likely to get everyone killed. I suppose I could always make another tunnel into the room, use it to flank the Rancor later into the fight.

A lot of this depends on what happens during the monster's moves I guess.

I've tried to keep the rancor from approaching, but i'm not certain that a measly 1d8 (+1d6...?) damage will keep it at bay. It might have helped if i had done more than minimum damage.

Diss will toss the steak I gave him at the last engineer, but we need Shin and Rychord to remove the guard standing right in front of us. It'll give us a better chance at surviving another round and opens up a chance for me to do a series of double attacks on the minions. If anything we need to murder a shitload of those real quick.

If they pop I can use my immediate interrupt Omega and summon a bunch of friendly minions to cause problems.

I was expecting the encounter to take place in the hallway, so I figured any kind of AOE would be the end of us if we were all bunched together.

I once again underestimated this team's willingness to literally go banging its head into trouble, which incidentally is what made me end up so far from the battle.

Since I managed to save vs. glue the next person near me in some certain radius I don't feel like checking at the moment gets +5 to save vs. anything. So as a tasty bonus to Rychord's +5, Skills could effectively get another +5. Which means that his take 10 would actually be a guaranteed 20 for a free second wind putting him back on his feet. F yeah.

So don't waste your turn bringing him back, Hawkeye. If you want to second wind someone, get Shin, otherwise just shoot some more faces.
