.bin files
is there any way to extract the sounds from a BIN file?
I tried every method stated here, but none of them works. The games i'm trying to rip are Super robot war alpha 3 and the A.C.E series Note:the BIN file i'm trying to open is not the common CD-image file.Mounting it wouldnt help at all! Most amazing jew boots |
Well SRW Alpha 3 has already been ripped. There's both an OST, and a PSF rip. The PSF rip can be found here. There's a lot of files on that page, so use CTRL-F to find it. As for the OST I don't know where that can be downloaded anymore... the place I got it from doesn't have it anymore.
I'll get back to you on the OST... How ya doing, buddy? |

actually i too, already had the OST for SRWA3
I'm trying to rip the sound effects from this game. Because most of them are the stock sounds used in various mecha anime in the late 80s and early 90s,which is what i wanted. As for ACE,i'm trying to rip the BGM of it. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I'd suggest that the easiest way would probably be to just record them directly using the audio output from the PS2 connected to your PC. That's assuming you have some way to boot a burned copy of the game.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |

too bad i dont have the necessary cables, and i cant get a clean rip since the sound effects are usually played along with the BGM
I was speaking idiomatically. |
The game's Options menu might give you the ability to adjust speech, SFX and music volume levels independently. Which would mean that by turning SFX and speech all the way down to zero you would in effect be muting them.
How ya doing, buddy? |

nope, you cant turn off the BGM

You can try PSound from this site: http://www.zophar.net/utilities/psxutil.html
It worked for for me with Disgaea sound effects, I don't know if it will work with that game. But it's worth trying, at least. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
not all .files could be read by that program unfortunately. Saint Seiya is working for me, it displayed around 1000+ sound files (streamed?). It seems the streamed audio data is compressed in .afs file. I tried to scan .bin files of Steambot Chronicles and Bully and the result show nothing. I guess it couldnt' be applied to all games.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
