Question: I kind of forgot Dune Spice Opera - Wake Up was nominated last year. :P One of my nominations, "Map of Arrakis" is actually the original track "Wake Up" is based on. So does that make "Map of Arrakis" ineligible?

Well that depends, I never got to hear "Map of Arrakis" myself. Are you saying it sounds very similar to "Wake Up" or that its the same track under a different name. If its the latter then I cannot allow that nomination =o.

My understanding is that "Wake Up" is the arranged version of the in-game theme "Map of Arrakis".

Hmm if that's the case then I'll have to turn down that nomination anyway-- Unless it was actually used in the game. Plus, Capo mentioned back to me that fan-made/arrange stuff in general shouldn't be eligible. As the album should consist of actual in game music.

Actually, according to that then "Map of Arrakis" (Elorin's nomination) is eligible, as it's the actual in-game song. "Wake Up" (which appeared on the last GFFST) was the arranged theme from the bonus music CD that shipped with the game.

As long as its not the exact same track as "Wake Up" and its used in-game then it is eligible.
edit: Heh, I should've read your last post more carefully. I got Map of Arrakis confused and thought that was the arranged track. Sorry!
Anyway, as I said. The track is in the nomination pool. As long as Elorin gets it to me!

Okay, I've uploaded my three nominations. The audio quality of the U6 tracks is probably better than what was more commonly available in the day. Roland is apparently quite formidable when it comes to soundcards (although I tend to prefer the SB AWE32).

I since added Eternal Struggle (in-game version) to my list, but for that one I don't care so much whether it's the OST or in-game version. [Hubris's OST version lacks the Asian-sounding instrument found in-game.. but I still believe Eternal Struggle sounds better in-game than on the OST as well, due to the extra bass in-game]. I really think you should let Machinae Supremacy's Great Gianna Sisters slide.. because it really doesn't fit anywhere else (at least not in this index thread) and it's a nice arrangement

As for Soul Calibur II, it simply stores its audio in the ADX format. Thanks to hcs, Winamp now has a plugin which can loop ADX files, so no one has to deal with my not-so-l337 cut-and-paste skills to get a full 2-loop song with fadeout

I'll do a -V 0 --vbr-new diskwrite from Winamp once I get time, and then tag the files I know.

Also, I'll upload the 3 ITG edits to YSI soon, and post a link.

Just wanted to point out that some of Skexis' noms are invalid, since they're console exclusives / PC titles:

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Lost Painting (PS1 exclusive)
Diablo - Dungeon (PC exclusive, PS1 version came much later)
KOTOR - Bastila Shan (counted as Xbox exclusive according to the Xbox forum thread)
KOTOR - Dantooine Outback (same)

And I'm not sure about these:
Oblivion - Dusk at the Market (I think it's already being used in either the Xbox or PC thread)
Quake III - Noise Purge (would go in PC thread? other modified versions came out later)
Silent Hill 3 - Dance With Night Wind (PS2 exclusive, PC version came out later)
