Kazyl's Photo thread
Um. These are very casual photos I've taken pretty recently. I needed a place where people would be able to actually see these instead of idling in my locked photobucket account :p. Hopefully I'll get some type of feedback.
This was taken on a trip to Oakland. A friend's friend asked if I could shoot the cover art for his band's album. These were some that didn't make the cut but I like them regardless. They were taken at an old warehouse that was closing down. Spoiler:
These were taken somewhere around Downtown Berkeley. I was experimenting with crossed-process slide film and these were the results. Spoiler:
I'll post more later. Jam it back in, in the dark.

I really enjoy the second one in your set of cross processed slide film. The lighting does it. By the way, did you want to make this a thread for others to post photography or exlusively for yours?
There's nowhere I can't reach.

The chair shot was pretty nice, although it would have been nice if there was more of a contrast between light and dark.
The cross processed shots were amazing! The photo with the bridge was very visually appealing and simple. I really loved the play with light in the second shot, and the last photo was nice and abstract. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of your work! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

photto: Um. Well I didn't plan on having other people post but if you want to, feel free. That's if you don't want to make your own photo thread of course.
elwe: Yea I see what you mean. The dark is a little too dominate. Here's two more: These two are my cousins taken at a birthday party. Spoiler:
I posted this one on my DA account but it's not like I'm gathering any major hits there. This was taken somewhere in Downtown San Diego. Spoiler:
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Out of those first three, I especially like that last one. The second three, I love the center picture. The contrast is perfect .
In your second post those are all pretty sweet, hard to say what I like best . The train tracks are just sheer awesomness, and I love all the color in the shots of your cousins. I was speaking idiomatically. FGSFDS!!! |
I love how the pictures of your cousins are exploding with color, and you did a good job of capturing their actions.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

DarkLink2135: Haha, I like that photo too (3rd warehouse picture). Just how simple it is and all the texture in the background. Just wish I took more.
photto: Thank you. Do you have any of your stuff uploaded? I'd like to see them. Ok, 4 out of the 5 I'm posting have already been posted on my DA account but again, it's not like I get much traffic (or comments) there. This was taken in my printmaking class: Spoiler:
This was the photo that the band I mentioned in the first post used for their cover. Taken on the same roll as the warehouse photos. Spoiler:
That's it for today. Night. FELIPE NO |
I really liked the shot with your cousins! It's nice to see things in action. The colors worked out very nicely as well. It looks commercial-worthy!
I also liked the railroad tracks, although I found myself a tad disorientated. Yay for the boots! The shot of the woman was also very nice. I really liked the next to shots as well. The photo with the table (after the stair photo) was particularly appealing to me, mostly because of the sense of solitude. The cover is excellent! I love the color scheme and the clouds (?) in the water. Was that chair already there? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I think the warehouse photos can use a lot more contrast. It would've been great if there were some sharp light and shadows, especially for the chair. But, you've gotta work with what you've got.
The second of the green series looks nice. Nice shadows there. I like the cloud on the water, but the trash in the lake is not of my taste. I think it's really subjective here, but I would've preferred either a clean shot of the lake or a few leaves on one area. Other than that, great work and keep it up! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Curse you people for not posting your gear and forcing me to ask.

Ah, who am I kidding, we all would like a little insight on your wares. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yeah, what kind of slide film did you use? Velvia?
Most amazing jew boots |

My bad. I use a Canon A1 with a 1.4 50mm lens.
Fujicolor Superia X-TRA 400 film. Slide film was Kodak Professional Elite Chrome 100. I really like a shallow depth of field so all my photos are pretty much shot around a 1.4 f-stop. Except the chair shot, that was probably at 13 I believe. Forgot what the shutter speed was. I'll have to keep track of those from now on. elwe: Yea. I was just walking along and saw it in the lake and was immediately drawn to it. Dee: By trash do you mean the chair? I was speaking idiomatically. |
Yeah, the chair. It's purely subjective here though.

Not sure if I like these all that much:

I really like your style of shot. They aren't heavily contrasted and saturated, which makes your photos seem more natural and realistic. I think that's something more photographers should think about.
