P-Wing vs Warp Whistle
(This will probably be one of many threads I create in an attempt to increase activity inspired by events at work.)
So at work, we've been randomly creating 'top 5' lists for various things. One of the recent lists was the topic 'Top 5 non-fps powerful items/weapons/whatever' and one of my co-workers put the P-Wing from SMB3, to which I argued that the warp whistle from the same game was much more powerful than the p-wing. His argument was in relation to being able to 'witness' levels while blowing through them, and also the ability to use them through world 8, in which a warp whistle would not allow you to bypass. He also felt that since you can't get them as easily as the warp whistles, that they should gain points in that aspect as well. So I bring this to you, the Gamingforce group, which item from SMB3 should be flagged as superior. The predictable yet world jumping warp whistle, or the mysterious yet scenic P-Wing? How ya doing, buddy? |
P-Wing makes a fool out of any stage you're on, including some of those damned World 8 stages.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
PLUS if used in the appropriate stages where a Tanuki Suit can be acquired, the P-Wing can be combined with it, for superior superiorness.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Two whistles lets you skip almost the entire fucking game. Two P wings lets you skip two stages. It's like you people can't even do math.
Most amazing jew boots |
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Flying over a stage completely out of harm's way counts as much toward winning as me beating Crash in a 400m run does. The P wing and the whistle do the exact same thing, just the whistle is better at it.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Yeah, have fun P-winging over these two stages while I use my warp whistles to skip them both.
Warning, gigantic images:
FELIPE NO |
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Well, I picked 7-7 just because you can't fly over the whole thing. It's got that section where you need to have the star, then run and duck under a pipe, and the P-wing doesn't help you out at all there. and really, if you don't suck at SMB3, then you should have plenty of lives to beat every stage and shouldn't ever need the whistle or the P-wing.
I could also argue that the game hands you a P-wing after completing the monumental task of finishing world 1. If you're looking for warp whistles, they're all well hidden, with two of them being hidden in such a way that most people only know they exist because of the strategy guide or The Wizard. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I think the fact that you need a fair amount of resources or skill to beat World 8 is a big factor. If you whistle your way to the last levels and can't hop, skip, and jump your way out of a mess, then you're doomed. When you're really stuck in a rut, P-wing can probably get you out of it.
In MOST cases, the Warp Whistle is like giving a bottle of Viagra to a virgin. Just sayin'. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
