The Pride & Joy Of Your Video Game Collection

For the majority of us that are gamers, we take great pride in the games that we enjoy. As much as I am a gamer, I am also a collector as well. I mostly collect anime style games which consist of the typical j-rpgs as well as other genre of games that have an anime theme.

I would like to think for everyone of us gamers, there is always that one game or series of games that tends to be our favorite so much so that we're always excited for the next entry of a particular series. Sometimes it even goes beyond the realm of the particular game in itself. We would like to own anything associated with the game, whether its action figures, music soundtracks, cartoons, strategy guides, etc.

I know that we have a Backloggery for GFF members to show their video games, but to the GFF community is there a series of games, or collectibles pertaining to a certain game, or even a single game in itself that you consider the pride and joy of your video game collection.

This is what I would consider the pride and joy of my video game collection:

Once a Xeno-whore, always a Xeno-whore.

Games
- Xenogears
- Xenosaga Episode 1
- Xenosaga Episode 2
- Xenosaga Episode 3

Soundtracks
- Xenogears Original Soundtrack
- Xenosaga Episode 1 Original Soundtrack
- Xenosaga Episode 1 Yasunori Mitsuda
- Xenosaga Episode 2 Movie Soundtrack
- Xenosaga Episode 3 Original Soundtrack

All bootleg soundtracks (wuh-wuh-wuh)

Books
- Xenogears Perfect Works
- Xenogears Player Guide
- Xenosaga Episode 1 Player Guide
- Xenosaga Episode 2 Player Guide
- Xenosaga Episode 3 Player Guide
- Xenosaga Episode 2 Magazine
- Xenosaga Episode 3 Artbook

Action Figures
- Kos-Mos Episode 1 action figure

DVD
- Xenosaga Episode 1 Movie DVD

As extensive as the collection is, there are still a few things that I'm missing, such as the Xenosaga Episode 3 action figures, Xenosaga Episode 1 & 2 DS Game (JP), a couple of other xeno-soundtracks and the limited edition hardcover Xenosaga Episode II strategy guide, and Xenosaga the animation.

To the GFF community what do you consider the pride and joy of your video game collection.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I've shown this off before but it still bears noting because it's still pretty awesome.

Anybody over the age of 20 with a video game collection and boasts about it should probably grow up or kill themselves.

Crash gets an exception 'cause he's got, like, asthma and shit.

I'll post pics later. I'm not sure if my pride and joy in my collection is all the Front Mission shit I have or just the collection as a whole.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I was going to post a collection but then I remembered I've only actually purchased 7 games over my 22 years on this planet. Didn't even buy a decent camera because it's not one of said games and is unworthy of large sums of expenditures.

only games worth owning imo

I own the Fast and the Furious Arcade game in my garage, but I'm not about to go take a picture of it.

This, however, is the next best thing:

The only thing I've ever taken pictures of (besides stuff for the new purchases thread) is my Panasonic Q, because it is glowy, shiny, and Tron-like.

I have an original boxed copy of both Suikoden 1 and 2, PAL versions. I'm not especially proud of them but I will enjoy selling them for a couple of hundred pounds to some nerd on eBay one day.

I have the Suikoden games too, but I don't think I could sell them ever. Same goes for Alundra and (only a few) other rarities I've managed to obtain originals of.

What I'd like to have in my collection, in addition, however is the Alundra Original Game Soundtrack.

I guess my pride would be my pretty extensive list of PSX RPGs like a lot of other people around here. All of them are complete, though I can't quite provide photographic evidence since they're still at home with my parents.

Alundra 1
Alundra 2
Grandia
Lunar SSSC
Lunar EB
Ogre Battle
Suikoden I
Suikoden II
Tales of Destiny
Tales of Destiny 2
Vagrant Story
Valkyrie Profile
Wild Arms
Wild Arms 2
Xenogears

There are a bunch more, but I figure those are the most notable of the bunch (also I don't believe any of them are GH versions, though not intentionally).

I guess the pride and joy of my video game collection is my Japanese version of Sonic CD, complete with instruction booklet. I am also rather fond of my copies of NiGHTS and Christmas NiGHTS.

A lot of people think that Modern Warfare 2 has the coolest video game bonus ever.

A lot of people are dumb stupid fags.

Yes, I made an entry about it a while back, but it's still awesome. Behold, the pride of my collection:

Shit Qwarky, that Mahjong set kicks everything I own Nintendo to the curve.

I guess this is the best thing I've got going then:

If id's Super Pack ever goes on sale again on Steam I'm insta-buying it, so I can rightfully own everything Doom and everything Wolfenstein too.

I had no idea Alundra was a rare game, I've got a copy of that and Vagrant Story too. My N64 is the limited edition Pokemon Stadium version (Coloured yellow and blue with pictures of Pokemon on it) which I guess is a bit different and I quite often wear the t-shirt I got with Frontlines, mainly because the references to the actual game are pretty subtle.

Yeah, same. I didn't realise it was that rare either, though I guess it wouldn't be that surprising.

Alundra is rare? I don't like the game (it's like a depressing version of Zelda with all the charm and sense of exploration removed ), so it's certainly not a pride and joy of my collection, but it's there on the shelf. Along with Vagrant Story and Grandia 1.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I prefered Alundra to any of the Zelda games, probably becuase it was a bit more bleak and not all smiley and colourful. It was also far, far harder.

Edit: You can get Alundra on eBay for £2 at the moment.

Not sure about Vagrant Story, but I really don't think Alundra is all that rare. I picked up a used copy in good condition not long ago for a tenner.

Outside Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, Zelda games - while colourful - are hardly happy and cheery. Many of the details in the stories are quite dark, tragic or disturbing, be it Majora's Mask or the original myths in the first few Zelda games. Twilight Princess also had some really freaky stuff in there and both bad guys had their share of trauma and tragedy to their pasts (enslavement, obsession, insanity).

The earlier Zeldas were also quite challenging, especially Link's Awakening (which also had a really depressing story and ending).

You really should play more, man. Just cause the grass is green instead of brown doesn't mean the game itself will be sugary

Jam it back in, in the dark.
