Creative places?

I find that my room is often a cramped place for creativity. With the computer and consoles and pornography, I have way too many distractions to devote myself to being creative. Being at home is generally dampening on my creative-side unless I'm alone at the house, so I like to go into the city and chill out in a cafe or at the library with a window.

What encourages your creative juices? Where do you go to let loose? A specific room? Do you listen to music when you do your thing?

Incidentally I do most of my writing on my computer. But I generally have an easier time if I'm somewhere where I feel I'm a part of the whole (not noticed), or if I'm alone. Loved it in the summer when I could step outside and play guitar for an hour or two in the warm sun.

I dunno, discussion on modes of inspiration too?

I feel more creative when I'm in my room, alone. Though my room is pretty cramped (PC, console, bedspace, etc.), I feel more creative since most of my stuff/references are in my room, more specifically in my PC. I draw on my PC table, I just shove my keyboard aside, play some music, open/look-up references if necessary, and draw. And the comics posters I have on my walls increase the motivation factor.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

My room works best for me. Easy access to references if needed, and most of all, I have my PC to play various music. Not that the music inspires me--it just helps me take my mind off the fact that I'm trying to be creative and allows the creativity to flow, so to speak.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

AHAHA I had to!
But seriously, I too definetly associate my room with "passing time". I don't know where I go, but definetlely out of my room... usually to a library, or pond.

Do you have a big city near by? You should check out a relfecting pool if they have one. Those things will change lives... changed mine and continues to! Such beauty in simplicity...

Any somewhat quiet, inconspicuous spot with clean chair and table and it is big enough for me to pace back and forth with a headphones on I am good to go. A lot of what I do depending on my mood and mind set, and sometimes I listen to music to change that. Usually if I want to draw a specific theme or something I’ll have certain music on my headphone.

My computer can be the best thing or a detriment to my creativity depending on what medium that I am going to do though. If I am just going to draw on my computer it makes little difference, but if I am doing traditional medium, computer can be pretty distracting.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I would encourage to CONSTANTLY carry a notebook with you.
I usually have my greatest ideas either on the street or in school.
But, if you're having a conversation, try to end it asap so you can write it down; don't just write while you're talking to someone.

Yah I usually carry a pen and 2 pieces of folded paper in my jacket pocket when I go out just in case. Except one of those pens exploded in my jacket, and now I have this crazy looking ink stain on the inside of this black Autumn coat I got. At least it matches the color of the coat.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I never have a specific place; it's more my emotions at the time that dictate how creative I will be. Wherever I happen to be when I become most creative, so practically anywhere.

I definatly 2nd this, I've been having creativity problems lately myself with the amount of work I have, but I've found when you can spare the time this is a must do to save things being lost in your mind. With life and it's oh so many distractions it's just as amasing how many ideas we forget as randomily as getting them in the first place

In all honesty, the only real place I can get any peace in the dorm life has to be the hiny hidden poop receptical. Yes, pooping always cleared my head to help me read and write out some ideas. Plus, it gets kind of lonely and boring in there sometimes so why not just bring something along for the fun.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
