Talking Recommend to me a good fansub

To be more specific:

I recently picked up Aegisub and am playing around with it. I want to see examples of good typesetting, in terms of karaoke in the OP/ED as well as normal dialogue. I don't particularly care about the merits of the series - just technical merits.

^.^ has kindly provided the following he considers good:
  1. Please Save My Earth, by Zhentarim DivX (z-x)
  2. Key the Metal Idol, by anime4ever (a4e)
Your recommendations are appreciated. (I'm reasonably confident I can locate the relevant examples at my leisure; thus I only need a group name and an anime.)

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Not sure if I'm getting the name right, but EvalPower (or something like that)'s sub of Shakugan no Shana had amazing karaoke. Really crap translation/everything else, but that karaoke sure was pretty.

If you want an example of what NOT to do with karaoke, look for AonE's sub of Chrno Crusade.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Anything SS-Eclipse will satisfy you.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

What's wrong with AnimeOne's karaoke of Chrno Crusade? (I'm looking at the ED song "Sayonara Solitaire" and I see a lot of effects also used by SS-Eclipse).

Also, the Shakugan OP is really impressive - they changed the colors and style based on the background

Just find a sub by No Name Losers (NNL), or Anime-Keep / Spoon's sub of Full Metal Alchemist. That's the proper way to do typesetting -- a tasteful, readable font with no lame effects.

Did you SEE the OP, man. Flying bullets and flashing crosses and way too much crap going on.

With karaoke you either try make it legible or artistic or ideally both, but that sub went beyond into the realm of "unreadable blather."

a.f.k. doesn't particularly do very flashy typesetting, but their work is always tasteful and totally appropriate. It's a great example of what R1 releases could look and read like.

Can't say I have, actually. Having trouble sourcing it, as it's a discontinued series (so much for my sourcing confidence!)

Seems to me any sort of particle effects are rather distracting, and that a sans serif font is basically called for. Gonna have to see how to do those subtitles where the words 'pop out' and change color, I guess.

Anybody else got any examples of horrible karaoke?

Every once in a while it's fun to have some fun karaoke.

Here's a really good mix of karaoke effects depending on the part of the song and language. It has good pace and spacing as well.

YouTube Video

Plus it's an awesome song. =)

How ya doing, buddy?
