Hey I played halo 1 competitively so therefore everyone should bow down before my post.
Oh, so that's why you shoot people's knee caps out: "Kneel before me bitch" *bang*

Seems fair, you did play Halo 1 competitively after all.

I only played like a half hour of Halo One in my entire life. Does that invalidate my opinion on the sequels?

I was speaking idiomatically.

The way how I see it, any opinion is valid, as long as you play games period. It's just how relevant it is to the topic at hand which varies.

um no, people that played only h2 compeititively wouldnt know because in 1, the main thing was to get the powerups, camo, os, rocket and if everyone was timing they would all know when it would respawn. In 2 it isnt like that at all, you could time it after it was picked up the first time so the team who picked it up the first would know, and not the opposing team. So yea devoxycontin, thats why people who started off with 2 wouldnt know. I know what im talkin about.

And no, I'm not acting like im superior, Im just saying what I know.

Ok, well you see how Tube replied with the exact same quote and said this guy is 100% correct here. And you know why he understood? Because he knows what I meant with the things I said because he played it like I did probably. When you play matches other than custom games online on XBL they have radar, so it became much more accepted because you cant change it.

So let me say it like this, If you played 1 competitively and then played 2, you wouldnt like it as much. The top players in 1 that played h2 competitively also liked 1 much more but only played 2 for the money.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

What I don't get is why don't people play games for fun, rather than put it as a competition?

I was mainly just agreeing to how you said it's more fun with no radar, and that it's a result of being forced to use it in 2/3 that it becomes more accepted. I don't personally believe it is impossible for anyone else to understand that just because they never played Halo 1 over XBC.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Something Devo will be pleased to hear, Bungie are closing in on those people who are up to no good doing things like bridging.

Quote:
A member of the Ars Technica forum community who happens to work at Bungie chimed in with what the message [posted in the most recent Bungie.net update] means saying that they're "almost done dialing in the Banhammer, and a few people who helped us test Phase One are about to help us test Phase Two." What are they looking for?

"Network attacks, by and large. Hard to prevent, easy to detect, but we've had to wait and make sure there were no game issues that could be confused for abusive behavior.

Banning a false positive is worse than missing several legitmate bridgers, DDoS'ers, and their ilk. So our process has been pretty methodical so far."

You can't run, you can't hide, and your accounts are forfeit. The reckoning is coming.

To be honest I don't really understand this whole bridging thing fully, but I guess, if it applies to networking how I think, then yes, it could be used to alter everything to do with connection to the host, slowing down someone's connection, or preventing it altogether.

However, horrible lag could just be caused by a rubbish connection to the host.

Well from what I looked up, basically bridging seems to be where the host gets an unfair advantage, where he makes everyone else hang, while he's able to still move around and do things. It's like freezing time if you look at it that way.

Well I hope bungie actually does something about these cheaters. And not just make empty threats.

In a nut shell bridging is taking a xbox and connecting it through a computer for it to access the internet. Yes, yes two ethernet ports are needed. The computer along with certain network monitoring software will then be able to "control" who gets host and even lag out other players.

It was originally supposed to prevent the modders from getting host every time, I think. But of course that idea backfired and only gave the cheaters in general another toy to play with.

For those of you who get a chance to hop on today, be sure to check out the special 27 hour playlist.

We managed to get a game before we ended our session about an hour ago, and it was a fucking blast.

Basically. Other players can essentially be booted from the games too, if they force host. I get host often, so as you can imagine the only way to steal it at times is to forcibly boot me from the game. There have been other times when they've tried to bridge me through an entire game so the whole game essentially lags and I'm red barring for most of the match. It happened several times last night and fucked over my connection (residual lag) to legit games.
Hey it's bound to happen. But three games in row? Good lord ._.
I think I've been bridged/stand by'd a lot lately. Ever since I got my 40 skill level most of my ranked matches became laggy as hell. And on several occasions I magically get dropped whenever I started going on killing frenzies and what not.

Yeah, it sucks. But really the most we can do is file complaints, avoid the players via player review and or stop playing Halo 3.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

or stop playing Halo 3.
I'm getting to this point unfortunantly for some reason...

My account went back to silver earlier, and right now I'm just interested in Hellgate and AC6, because a bunch of people I know went to that now. I know already that 4 of my friends picked up Hellgate, and one of them is going to be a guild leader. I just can't really do anything at the moment until pay day. I like playing Halo, but it's community as a WHOLE I dislike. I want to keep myself interested in Halo 3, but it's just been dwindling down.

So, yeah.
Some new stuff is underway. In an acceptance video from Bungie ( Gametrailers.com - Halo 3 Full Map Editor and Bots?! by Ace ) Luke shows some frankly bewildering stuff, like AI characters in a multiplayer map. Hmmm.
