Microsoft Office vs. Word Perfect X3

I've been using Microsoft Office for years and years until I saw a proxima of someone using Word Perfect.

I liked it immediately. It just felt so much more streamlined, and I loved the little things like the spellchecking word guessing thing up top and various other little things.

I just got it, and like when you switch to any new program, I need a little help with the functioning of it. I'm trying to use a lot of newer programs nowadays, since I just got a new laptop. Prior to this I kept the same programs and went under a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" policy, but I'm in the mood to innovate so I'm trying new things out.

One big question I have with this program is, with Microsoft Word you can right click on a word and get synonyms for it. How can I do that with Word Perfect?

Other than that I'd like to here the general perspective/opinion on these two programs. Which is the better program, and for what reasons?

Jam it back in, in the dark.
The only way out is through.

There is probably something under the tools menu that says "Thesaurus," although this is just a guess since I haven't used Word Perfect since I graduated from Windows 98.

I don't know about which is better either, but I do know that the Microsoft Office file formats are much more popular, and if Word Perfect doesn't support them, then you very well might be doing yourself a disservice in incompatibility.
I personally would recommend OpenOffice. It seems to have just about all of the best features from each word processor, and supports just about every text format on God's green earth. And its FREEEEEE!!!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, I tried using the thesaurus from the tools menu and it opens up this gigantic tab which is like an actual thesaurus... which I'm not really looking for.

With Word it's so easy to just right click a word and get a list of synonyms and I'd love it if it were possible to get this feature on Word Perfect as well.

I tried Open Office and it is actually pretty cool. Except it doesn't do the right-click synonyms list and it doesn't tab windows. On the laptop the usage of tabs is a GODLY invention, and I like to employ it in everything I do now. Word Perfect opens every new document in little tabs on the bottom, can I do that with Open Office?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
The only way out is through.
